Go Woke, Go Broke: DAV vs KCD2 Sales
With Vavra's scorched earth PR of attacking the community and the game going woke by allowing Henry to penetrate men with his other sword... here is what we have.

Concurrent players fails to break 160k on opening day... ut oh. Drops to 100k before the day is even up. Refunds + Lower than expected sales. It is a weekday so maybe that will pick up on the weekend.

Supposedly (This is a rumor) the budget for Kingdom Come Deliverance was around $40 million. (The last day or so there has been a rumor that in 2019 the studio expanded and this raised the cost to $200 million) There is a good chance that they might make a little bit of a profit. But they need 1.5 million game sales just to break even.

If we base this off of the Dragon Age The Veilguard concurrent and sales numbers, with refunds I estimate we are probably looking at about 2 million in sales before layoffs probably start. Of course there is wiggle room by a million either up or down. But right now it doesn't look good for the studio under new ownership.

The game will most like be seen as a failure by the new owners unless they see 3 - 5 million copies sold within the first month.

Now we wait and see.

*Edit: Some readers are skipping important words, so I clarified that the budget is still a rumor. No one knows the actual budget yet. But Vavra is still mad on X, so the odds that they made their money back yet is rather low.

Without this controversy the game could have easily reach ~180k players on steam, i'm pretty sure
Twitch viewers sit around the same amount as the current concurrent 117k. Overall low interest, but this might pick up by the weekend.

He didn't attack "the community", he clapped back at a horde of rabid bigots.

That's right! Everyone I don't like is a(n) [insert flavor of the month insult from reddit]. You tell 'em, sister!

Don't worry, it will sell. The so called based, "anti-woke youtubers" will shill this as hard they can for Vavra.

If Emracer dissolves the studio, it is well deserved. It was a betrayal of loyal fans.

Bigot is not an insult or "flavour" of the month, and reddit is a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ just like this place.

You people are the literal definition of bigots, and you're proud of it. Not sure why you're insulted.

Your mentality is one of the reasons why games who implement gayness in them fail.

All people like you do is call people names who don't want anything to do with homosexuality, and yet, people like you do not even own the products you are picketing for.

We all seen it and we all know what it does to companies. It never turns out well for them. BG3 was an anomaly, not the norm.

would we not already be at 1 million in sales by now ? or more ...

He attacked the community like a journo. He grabbed the most egregious posts and associated that with the part of the community that was criticizing the game. He attacked a Yotuber for click bait headline even though the youtuber defended the game in the video. Well known people who were on the fence or semi defending the game said Nope after seeing what he did.

Vavra was frothing at the mouth and went scorched earth.

I've played the first one for over 100 hours and I will play this one. You might be surprised to hear the presence or lack of presence of a homosexual character is not what makes me decide whether or not I can play a game.

If you are crying and seething about the mere mention of homosexuality, you are a bigot. I'm not "calling people names" I'm describing a set of behaviours they exhibit using an incredibly common and well-known term. It's really not that hard to understand.

i am pretty sure that ~160.000 peak players on PC is a very good number as far as stats go. At least for an RPG :P
