recommended 4070 is absolutely brutal
That was sad to read, and depending on what they mean by that, the game could even not run well (above 60fps all the time) while maxed out at 1080p on this card. Different developers place the recommended category very differently from each other. Sometimes recommended equals smooth as butter, sometimes it means running acceptably.

Although there are reasons to belive this kind of game belong to the outlier category of uncommonly demanding games, like Read Dead 2 or Cyberpunk, it is a bit unsettling to see this since series 5000 are not even completely out of the oven yet.

EDIT: and on top of all that, the cherry on top, recommended 7800x3d... RIP

Ooof yeah. Like i said previously, he should go 9xxx series AMD or wait 15th Intel gen to see when upgrading. I have a recent 14900 Intel and i'm fine with it. Many people are not unfortunately coz of all microcode business.
Did we forget about the 200-series already? Cuz Nova Lake is going to be 16th gen next year or so. Or 300/400-series. Still prefer the old generation naming schema.

The i7 and i9 are buried in the past indeed, the new ones will be those underwhelming core ultra. Unless intel get their ♥♥♥♥ together, they are going down.
The minimum hardware requirements on the Steam Store page gives us a good idea about what level of hardware we'll need (It wasn't hard to find):

OS: Windows 10 64-bit (or newer)
CPU: Intel Core i5-8400 / AMD Ryzen 5 2600
RAM: 16 GB RAM
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 (6GB) / AMD Radeon RX 580
Storage: 100 GB

So, I expect those of you with a GTX 1070 or above will be just fine with this title. Just lower some of the settings and you're good to go.
This nonsense about 'needing' a 4070 is for medium to high end requirements with higher graphics settings and resolutions like 1440p or 2160p.

This is how it looks on 2080 with 1080p and 1440 and 4k. Hard to see because of Youtube. He played without dlss at 1440 and it looked better than kcd 1 from what I could see.

I'm running a 5800X3D + 4070 Ti with a 1440p display so probably gonna have to run a mix of low and medium settings and just accept i'll be stuttering.

I was just thinking about getting an ASUS ROG Strix X870E-E and a 9800X3D, but not sure if i should see how good my current system does.

My current motherboard is only a Gigabyte B650 UD AC.

No it's not. Hope that you don't get stutters with a bottleneck.

Unless you are talking about "not the greatest" in the literal sense, 7700 and 7700x are awesome CPU's for games.
They are but games are also becoming more CPU intensive.

I don't see why should you go for something extreme unless you have extra money and want to be on literal top of things.
Just read a Guy on german Gamestar says the PC Version is very well optimized, setting the graphics on high (looks still great) with an rtx 2060 super u have still 50 fps on WHQD also on demanding scenes, with no DLSS, if DLSS is set to quality he got 70 fps...

Well i definitely want the 9800x3d. I might as well. The motherboard is the next choice. I guess something middle of the road then. Been looking at pcpartpicker.com at some different ones.

Which CPU did they use though?

If I remember the director from the dev videos said he is playing it on a 3050 card so it is probably going to be fine on 2060 and above
the thread is full of people who can't spend 30 seconds to find the full list of system requirements and find out that the 4070 is recommended for 1440p 60 frames on high settings, instead they make up some delusional stuff out of their heads and argue about something that doesn't exist

Red Dead Redemption 2 isn't really very demanding. You could play it easily on RX 570 on medium/high settings 1080p with 45+fps. Without any upscalers.

Probably 1080p upscaled from 540p, medium settings, just like Alan Wake 2

I’m planning on playing this on my legion go & RTX 4090 PC. The fact the game is even targeting lower bound steam decks is good. However I hope this isn’t some FF7 rebirth steam deck ‘verified’ bs.
