Can you tell me what the problem is with "save points?"
I'm seeing a lot of buzz around frustration w/ saves from the reviews of this game. Apparently it hasn't changed from the first one, but I never played it.

Can you describe what the save system is like? Are their no options to save where you'd like, or it all just auto saves? Thanks!

you can only manually save in 2 ways: 1) quit the game via the menu, which cause an auto save

and 2) Savior Schnapps. An alcoholic beverage which saves the game, but which you need to acquire. And then, you can only save as often as you have schnapps.

Iirc there might also be a few auto save moments.

You use 'Saviour Schnapps' to save the game, which you can buy or create yourself.

There are auto saves.

You save:

• Sleeping in beds
• Before major storyline events
• Drinking a specific potion to save (rare and limited)

Takes while to get accustomed to, but makes the game mor einteresting in my opinion.

For an open world I also don't like save points or having to use saviour schnapps, that said I play on PC so it's kinda irrelevant to me as a save anywhere mod will probably be out inside a week from now, possibly even out tomorrow.
Thank you all! That doesn't seem too bad to me? I'm sure someone can mod it to auto save in the future too

Because people save scum, and they have systems to prevent that.... I know... how dare they not let people cheat the game, making death have a little consequence. OH THE HUMANITY!

Games have got to the point where if the devs say "we want this game to be hard"
Cry babies are then shocked that it's hard :steamsad:

Nexus got you if you don't like it. I think it was the first mod for KCD:1

And sleep in a bed.

The only complaint i have heard so far is the "when"of autosaves. For example I think it saves at the end of conversations and not before, so if you mess up a dialogue option then there is no oops, let me reload the autosave because the save may have happened after you made the mistake,

The most reliable to to save scum the game is saviour schnapps followed by sleeping in an owned bed (assuming that it is like the first game).

In the OG, It takes a Saviour Schnapp(consumable), or a bed to save the game. You can buy and/or brew potions, and there are beds everywhere. Once you take up alchemy, brewing plenty of Saviour Schnapps is a non issue..
Honestly, this all sounds really immersive and fun to me! I like things that are different, even if I initially may not like it. looking forward to release :)

It was one of the first. I think the first was either the aiming reticle or the mod that lets you have full vision while wearing a helmet.

Looks like KCD2's first mod is also the aiming reticle as that mod is already out.

I love to explore every possible branch of dialogue, that's why I am somewhat annoied by limited save points. That said, I rush alchemy and then it's a non-issue

You will love it when you lose hours of progress due to a random enemy encounter or a bug. Also woke

Stuff happens. I don't get bent out of shape with stuff like that

And if you save too often you can get wasted lol.

I personally love the save system. It’s fun. Basically you CAN save scum…but it’ll cost ya.

(There are ways to make it way more affordable but I’ll leave that for you to discover…)
