Are those recommended specs truly realistic?
I believe this was asked around a lot, but also, the answers I've read were as helpful as tits on a boar (eh ugh).

Yes, KCD1 early enjoyers know it had a rough optimization and, although much better, still not the best engine to this day.

But those recommended specs for KCD2 in store page feels very steep, or am I just a too much of a poor guy?

My hardware is pretty outdated, it plays KCD1 at max around 100 fps, but do you guys think it'll be another "1-2 years of post-launch optimization" game until even the recommended specs decently run the game?

I ask his because KCD1 launch didn't run very well not even with specs above the recommended ones.

Apparently, the optimisation is MUCH better than the previous game. Also, there will be a day 1 patch which greatly improves the performance.

Hi!

Worth a Buy did an FPS test on his pc.

He did but he forgot to do a proper one for 1440p, where most people operate. Sadly.

*cough* 1080p is still the most used, though the gap between that and 1440p is getting smaller by the day. But i get you. Anyone who isn't using their mom's laptop would be sporting a 1440 monitor. And with 50xx series gfx cards, 4K is starting to look feasible.

I wonder if 2070 Super with 12900k will be ok then. Time will tell.

Tbh, although I have a 4k-capable monitor (but not one of those 240hz or anything near that) I still play games in 1080p + better AA and/or FSR (yeah, AMD gpu andy here, pls don't bully me).

Until 1440p does any functional (and major) difference for me (i.e. some games the UI really is another world with 1440p), I will keep playing in 1080p + enhancements for smooth gameplay, but ofc it's a personal preference.

(And, again, my hardware a bit outdated).

Please let me know, my 5700XT is right under your 2070 Super, and CPU almost half of yours eh (Ryzen 5600X). I'll be so grateful if you can tell me what you will get there (Praydge for you and for me that'll be all good, even though not max, I'm sure, but decent is enough for me).

Jimbo's link had a 2080. 2070S is roughly 8-10% less performant. Should be fine for 1080p/60fps at Ultra setting and dlss quality/balanced. For 1440p, you might have to lower them from ultra and run dlss at balanced/performance. CPU exceeds recommends despite being one gen older so it's fine.

Not an AMD guy so can't really give good advice. But your rig is roughly in-between minimum and recommended so you might need to fiddle a bit more with setting.

If I remember correctly KCD2 had FSR and XeSS so those are going to be your saving graces. Maybe test both and see which give better average fps. I'm guessing Xess since that fared better at tests.

I feel as though recommended specs are never truly realistic. Unless your hardware is several generations old or your PC is configured very incorrectly, there are always settings and toggles you can mess with to improve your experience.

For example: Lets say your GPU can only handle up to 1080p 30fps. You can toggle on DLSS or FSR to lower your resolution to 720p and upscale it back to 1080p. You may have 45fps now or even 60. If your CPU can't handle the load, maybe you can lower ground clutter or object quality over distance.

Keep in mind you'll always sacrifice something in visual quality, but often times the fps gains are worth it. I can't tell you how many games I've played where I can't tell a difference between High and Ultra unless my face is right up on the screen looking for the details.

Unless its Crysis. Then you're screwed ;)

They recommended an SSD drive for KCD 1, but not for KCD 2. That seems strange to me.

Yeah thanks, I'm crossing my fingers in here, FSR was absurdly impressive when well implemented, like in BG3 i.e.

I don't really care for ultra-uber graphics, just don't want it looking like a 2005 game heh, in a game that needs a bit of immersion.

Excellent article indeed, thank you very much, a lot of tests.
Apparently it runs decent on low settings even on an rtx3050 laptop gpu with 4gb of vram
