You wanna know what's really sad about this entire controversy?
There was a real conversation to be had here about some of the design decisions made for KCD 2, but nearly every attempt to have one has quickly become submerged under a toxic sludge of puerile name-calling and virulent accusation. This goes for both sides, and even includes Daniel Vavra, who is seemingly enjoying himself to no end fanning these silly flames on social media. So much for rationality.

The only good news is that it's almost over. KCD 2 will be released tomorrow, so at least some of the conversation will shift away to things like technical issues/bugs (If any), tips/playthrough advice, and complaints that are actually based on real game play experience. I don't expect the pitchforks and torches to be put away entirely, but at least there will be slightly more variety to the threads here and elsewhere concerning KCD 2. Or, at very least, one can hope...

The only name calling is comes from supporters of this DEI-driven game.

It's fine. No one cares. All that matters is how many units are sold (and not returned). After six years of development, a bad result for sales could break this company.

The controversy could kill this company. It truly doesn't seem the man himself really cares, though.

The controversy is not going to stop for quite some time yet. In fact, it may even increase.

The saddest part is people spending days whining about a game they don't intend to play. So sad.
Currently, in my country (Belgium), KCD2 has overtaken Civ and is now number 1 in sales on Steam. So sad for all those people who went on a crusade against the wrong game.
The wokists turn to name calling and bad faitha arguments so much is true there is no horseshoe argument to be made here though.

If the topics on the first page of the game are older than two hours before the release, then what happens when the release takes place?

It's a raid, probably by people that want to discredit actual criticism in the industry. Just ignore them.

You and your ilk were irrelevant 6 years ago; you are irrelevant still.
1. The fact that they split the games in two, and we're now only getting complete story, like a marvel movie
2. Hiding quest/content behind pre-order
3. AAA price despite being an indie game.
4. No hardcore mode on release
5. blank page reset of protagonist, ie no world state inheritance like DA (no matter how reasonable an explanation for it)

Also, no dual-wielding from what I could see of trailers.
I don't know how they're ever going to a VR port at this rate.
Maybe it'll be like the hitman games where dualwielding is a VR exclusive skill?

Anyways, those are probably my main complaints with the game itself with what we know. (of the top of my head, I mean, I only skimmed the trailers, tbh)

Tumblr/twitter leftists never became majority though.

So how does this criticism discredit any "actual" criticism in the industry and which criticism is that specifically?

Ah, Americans and their political illiteracy.
After the game has released, and enough people have played a good portion of it, all of this will die down, unless there is something really out of place in comparison to the first game. Hopefully, within a couple days, or a week at most, the forums will return to the game itself.

Why is it sad? It's only a few more days of jackassery.. Go make some popcorn. Everything you talked about will get hashed out eventually. Unless there are flaming drag queens marching up and down the streets of Kuttenberg, then the whole "woke" thing is going to fizzle out eventually. No use in being pessimistic about it. Like you said, "one can hope". It's not as hopeless as some are trying to make it out to be..
The smallest gangs often have the biggest mouths.. Let them squeak themselves hoarse!

Looks like you're a fan of name calling too.
