SSD mandatory?
obviously it's optimal but i can tolerate longer load times if i can save ssd space for games that NEED it to even run. i don't see the "SSD necessary" tag on the requirements so i assume it's not.

If you look at the store minimum and recommended specs, no type of HDD is mentioned but I think SSD is the bare minimum recommended these days. Ideally you should have NMVe.
If you're even considering using HDD for video gaming in 2025 then it's nothing short of self-flagellation. It may be a single player game, but you'll still be giving away minutes of your life staring at a loading screen each time you boot up the game. Be kind to yourself and get an SSD they're not that expensive these days.

oh no i have an ssd. what i dont have is enough space for everything i did wanted to buy one bigger but i am in mexico and the tariff war wont make it easy. maybe on aliexpress...
This is a way bigger problem than the stupid gamergate crap in the other threads. i mean i have no intention on buying this until a sale, but ssd's, at least decent size ones, 4tb+. cost over $350-400 and games are now pushing 200gb a hit. graphics in games have barely gotten better at all in 5 years and just a few years ago no publisher was asking for them. its just another way they are bleeding their customers money.

i recently bought a 8TB nvme for $400 shipped, drives are super cheap these days
Dude, it's 2025. I don't think they sell computers with HDDs anymore :D

In the first game a lot of stuttering, unloaded textures and missing terrain come from how slow HDD's are. Getting an nvme SSD felt like a miracle, EVERYTHING in Rattay was loaded. In Kuttenberg these problems will get a LOT bigger, since a single street in Kuttenberg is as big as Rattay
Pretty sure min spec said SSD....

That being said, NVMe or similar PCIe SSD for prefernce.
I bet cheap SATA SSD would be enough, if you look up tests between NVMe and SATA in games it really isn't that important, if you have any SSD it's enough.

Same as KCD1 you won't see the bethesda experience much but the loading time'll be longer. Especially on HDD.

If you don't mind putting up with insanely long loading screens HDD should be fine. SSD is so much faster though.

Well, the solution is just uninstall stuff you aren't playing to make space instead of letting it sit there eating space and not being used. SSD's today last a very long time.

Playing new games on a normal HD these days is just absurd, NVMe's are cheap as hell, there's no excuse.

How self righteous can one be? Not everyone is able to afford an NVME, OP could live in Myanmar or something. You literally have no idea, just answer the question instead of wealth shaming OP. You sound like an ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.
