Once forums are ruined they stay that way. The Last of Us 2 reddit is still full of people moaning about DEI. It is too late for this game but I hope people remember this next time

Every side has its dummies. That's why its a political spectrum and not a binary choice. There are crazies on both sides. Though I don't think the PR for this has helped things.

But I have not heard anything from the people actually playing the game. Other than one character was a little bit too friendly. And this includes people who normally rant about such things.

Its simply the right wing version of outrage culture. Just as most lefties were not the ones foaming at the mouth because the original kcd didn't have any black people most right wingers are not foaming at the mouth because you have the option to be gay. But I and many others do roll their eyes at this because....well why? Henry was never setup that way.

Problem was never inclusion. its retconning. At least if its done how people seem to think is the case. I suspect its a huge ordeal to actually engage in that romance considering most people who have played the game didn't even come across the option in a live play-through. In short you have to look for it. And I can see the comments screenshots being taken out of context for the black character.

But if everything is as it is claimed then its just plain tokenism which again is just cringy. But it doesn't mean the game will not be bad, but it will be one of the less than ideal things. That being said, if they chose to use these as an engaging story based element within the context of the times, then its fine. Games better for it.

But many precieve the folly of a bunch of bad games to be because they were woke. And I have a different opinion. I think games that latched onto woke things were games made by large companies with no passion for their game. Woke was put in because it was in box 3b on the spreadsheet even if it was a complete retcon that confuses players. And with so many bad KCD seemed to be the company that was truely passionate and they fear then went the way of most AAA developers and are scared that this will be true. I don't think it is. I think their parent company demanded they have something in there for the game awards and that they did their best to put it in there to make it comply with the owners. But I will wait and see.

I suspect this will be a case study for how not to address a concern for PR firms as this was not handled well. But maybe some of this relates to the story and they don't want to spoil it. We will know in a few days.

All and all leave the stupid to their outrage culture and lets wait and see. If its a mess then that sucks. But the gameplay I have seen looks really good so I doubt it.
