A question about Warhorse Studios.
Greetings to the entire community! I just wanted to say that I’m really excited about the upcoming release of Kingdom Come II, and I truly hope the launch is successful enough to make it a potential GOTY contender.

I wanted to ask you something: I’m a huge fan of history in general, and having a studio dedicated to making games set in the Middle Ages with a realistic approach, steering away from the usual medieval fantasy in the LARP D&D style, is something that really excites me. Not just because of the two games they’ve already made, but also for the potential future projects they might develop.

I seem to recall reading somewhere that Warhorse Studios intends to create only medieval-themed games with a realistic approach. Do you know if this is true? Is there any interview or article where they talk about their future as a studio?

If this is confirmed, if they officially state that their main focus will be on creating historically realistic games without fantasy elements, I'm really excited to see what kind of future projects they'll develop. There’s a lot of potential there.

On another note, I’d like to take this opportunity to ask for some advice. I'm about to start playing Kingdom Come: Deliverance for the first time, any recommendations for a first playthrough? Are there any must-have mods, specific settings to adjust, or a particular difficulty mode you’d suggest? Any tips are more than welcome.

That's all, have a great day!

Spartan thats great post! I wish them great success becouse sole idea of having more historical themed rpgs or games in general makes me happy panda !
We know nothing about what they'll do next but locally it will be more historical RPGs.

Something around the Hussite wars would be the 'obvious' move for them as a studio making games about this era of Czech history.
Unfortunately this game is not a realistic game, the first one was though and you can pick it up for cheap.
This second game is a fantasy spin off where characters can magically change their sexuality, and gay characters can't be killed.

1. I've only played the game without mods, so no mods are 'must have', but the mod that let's you save whenever you want seem to be quite popular.

2. I don't think that I've adjusted any settings before playing and not even keybinds, so you should be okay and you can still change that afterwards.

3. There are only 2 difficulties; normal and hardcore mode.
The normal difficulty might be the best for your very first run.

4. One tip I can give you is to not give up after the first hours of playtime.

The game is very hard to get in, but after you trained with Captain Bernhard is the point where the game really starts, because than you know the skills that are needed for real combat.
Some things in this game are hard to learn, but they feel really immersive and that is what makes the game unique.
If someone want non-immersive but mindless and easy combat, archery, lockpicking, pickpocketing, etc... you can also play Skyrim.

Oh god please just stop. Good grief, people are so whiney. Seriously. The game is very realistic.

I'm sorry it's not 100% historically accuraete, it's like 99.99999997%.

Seriously right, I don't even know how to respond to this kind of stupidity.
Its' not legitimate criticism anymore just plan stupid and should be deleted on the forum
Well, this is an interesting question. I can surely imagine WH doing something different. Most likely still an open-world RPG, but who knows...

Outside of gaming, I am not a big Vavra follower, but I recall that back in 07 or whenever, Vavra was working on a game set in the near future. Something like 3rd person mili-tech stealth game, if I remember correctly. He wrote a script, but he does not own full rights as it belongs to the studio he left - interestingly enough, he still owns the rights to e.g. write a book based on the given script.

KCD concept is great, some would argue that there is never enough KCD, but if KCD II will be such an opus magnum as it seems to be, I would be completely okay with them switching to a different genre/setting.
Thank you very much for almost all the comments! I'm really excited to see what the future holds. Regarding KC1, I've seen that some small mods are needed to improve the quality of life, like one that indicates when a mission is time-sensitive and things like that. So far, I'm really enjoying the gameplay experience.

There are just a handful of missions that are time sensitive, usually when someone is sick/injured or if there's a person being hunted by someone else. The timing isn't super punishing, it's just that if you forget about them and focus on other stuff, they can have a negative outcome. The rest can be done more or less at your leisure.

From what we've heard about quest time in the dev streams for KCD2 is that they do still have timing but being late doesn't end the quest, it just requires you to take a different path to solve it.
I would love them to make one based on the Roman empire.
I am fan of Vavra and his work since Mafia 1 and huge fan of KCD so I try to answer you from what I know. (I live like 20 minutes from places in KCD2).

About future plans of studio, nothing was officially announced ofc but, Vavra in one interview said they are not rockstar (yet xD) or any AAA big studio to make games every 1year (hello ubisoft). So developing a game is like 5+year process -specially RPG like KCD.

After KCD1 ending everybody was pretty sure there is gonna be second game, since KCD1 was firstly separated into 3 ACTs, But in middle of developing they realized its not possible to put everything into KCD1 so they moved ACT 2 and ACT3 to KCD2 - yes KCD1 and KCD2 was suppose to be one game :)

Also they had to get rid of some stuff in release of KCD1 like no crossbows etc, since time problem and money and exp of dev team. They claimed many times KCD2 is same as KCD1 but polished and game they always wanted to make and now they can - more people and money.

Vavra said the story of Henry gonna end with second episode. So after all dlcs and fix patches I do not think so there is gonna be KCD3. However, The game is set in year 1403 and Husite Wars started in 1419 (That year real Hans Capon died). And ended in 1439.

Only character in the game you can see in KCD2 that was famous in Husite Wars is Jan Zizka so maybe the story will continue with him? Will it still be KCD3 - not sure.

There were some questions on studio and Vavra to make Vikings era games but I dont think so he is interested in this - if he is gonna keep developing games like KCD1 and KCD2 I think so he will make Hussite Wars but not call it KCD3.

For game like Hussite Wars it would be really hard to stick with Undreal Engine 5 (6 for future) or Cryengine (highly mod by them) because that game would expect big battles and as he said once, actuall pcs and engines are not allowed to run big battles he want.

But me personally believe KCD2 will have massive success so maybe they gonna keep going with KCD like games in future. But we not gonna hear about it for upcoming 6years - next year is gonna be year of KCD2 and then?... who knows.

Since KCD1 and KCD2 is historic accure - or trying to be. You have to see the work behind it - visitng real towns in the game and villages, searching in chronicles where and how was churches build, what was here years ago etc. Its hard to imagine they would travel to Dennmark, Sweden or Norway or Iceland or Greenland etc to check those stuff to make for example viking game.

My prediction is there is gonna be new KCD like game but not called KCD3 in like 2030-2032. In Hussite Era.

Meanwhile I have to have finger cross for Gothic I and hopefully Gothic 2 Remake because If I wanna something before I die, then its walking in Khorinis with my 6080 GTX.

Sorry for my bad english I hope so I answered at least somethign you asked. If you wanna ask more free to do it here.

Bye
