You gotta give Daniel Vavra this much...
He certainly knows how to generate pre-release buzz for his games. He did it before the release of KCD, and he did again here, only this time targeting the other side of the chess board. Now he's got everyone worked up and talking about another one of his games, while once again garnering tons of free publicity in the process.

not all publicity is good publicity, gonna go down as a legendary flop.

Yes, only one thing; its the same side of the chess board : Americans
Hey, featuring unhinged people screeching about your game is certainly a way to make it look more appealing to normal people

Of course, but you know the old saying about there being no such thing as bad publicity. Whether the game is a long-term financial failure or not, he certainly has everyone right now worked up into lather.

seems like more wasted time and money if you ask me. there are some people who are going to buy physical copies who cant refund tho so more sales i guess.

Well, to be fair, if it wasn't for the controversy surrounding the original game prior to its release and Vavra's heated exchanges with his critics via social media, I, and probably many others, never would have heard of the game.

There's no denying that KCD 1's sales were as strong as they were initially in part precisely because of Vavra's spirited and incessant ripostes to his critics.
Veilguard is a legendary flop. There's not enough game left after the pandering.

This game looks like it has a lot more game left once one's past the pandering. I doubt it'll flop. I don't like how they've handled representation as this firestorm shows it's made things worse, not better (as it usually does).
He sure did try to hide it.
Thankfully, cat is out of the bag now.
Will not buy.

A big part of the reason why I purchased KCD was because of Vavra's obstinate resistance to the brigading Red Guards trying to get him to cave in to their agenda and push The Message. His reaction to them was, for the most part, a middle finger: "Go eff yourself, this is a historical game - if you don't like that? Too bad."

I liked that. A lot. Strength is respected, at least in my world - even among our enemies. You might dislike them intensely, but if they are strong and competent then that commands respect.

Which is why this reversal is so bad - it is a subversion and betrayal of everything that mattered. The two theories are "He sold out" - which is possible, and "He got leveraged" - which is equally possible.

I have no proof one way or the other so the lesser of two evils is "He got leveraged", which is what I think happened, being as the IP doesn't belong to him anymore. This forum isn't even being moderated by WH - instead being moderated by a PR group hired by Piaion.

Lol why can't you just play a game without humping the devs legs...

Obviously trying to idealize a director doesn't work as you'll never know who they truly are ..

Guess what, they are all who you don't want to be. Mature, goal oriented and not held back by fear and resentment.

If putting a gay dude in means more to make a great game then let's rid that fear and make a banger. Especially if it's hidden and sensitive driven to those who don't want to see this scene.

Nothing evil here but your PoV

Yes, you're such a "victim". Boo hoo, poor you.

For a virtuous person, violence and war are never justified. It is always better to be a victim than to fight, or even to defend oneself. But ‘oppressed’ people are allowed to use violence anyway; they are merely reflecting the evil of their oppressors. - Marxist "intellectual" and fake doctor Franz Fanon, 1952

Establish that you are the "victim", which makes you "virtuous" which gives you aggrieved status, which grants you the right to lash out in any way you see fit

Because "you're just reflecting the evil of your oppressors", right?

Now run along, good little meme-bot.

Trading players for Metacritic reviewers.

Hope that works out for him.
