Saudis didn't ban Baldurs Gate 3, even though it had multiple scenes. But Saudis said that KCD2 has unskippable scene and banned it.

The fact that they were so tolerant of BG3 gives them credibility, IMHO.

The honest answer is "we don't know"

it is highly likely that watching the gay scene is absolutely optional, that is what the devs said.

However that Henry is gay or bisexual is a given as he is written with a gay romance option in mind, if the gay romance scene involves Hans (which we do not know, though leaks have said it is so) then it brings into question all that happened in KCD one between the two characters.

My position is, Henry is now gay, because he is designed this way and that is not optional, if you act on that and watch a gay sex scene or relationship (we don't know) that part is highly likely to be optional.

That said, I want to add that warhorse Lied and tried to hide a lot about the situation, both the LGBTQ content and the implementation of Musa of Mali

Henry is gay be default but there is an option that if you manage to not choose it you make Henry straight.

I assume that because WH said the romance takes part over several quests and that the romance partner is vital to the main story (You can't kill him). That its most likely Hans, and its probably mandatory.

Before anyone says "Well none of the reviewers found it! so you're bullshitting!"

Do you have any idea how easy it would be to turn those things off for the review copies, to hide it like they've tried hiding EVERYTHING thats DEI in the game until the rumors of a Ban, then on Day 1 launch, they have a small patch that flips a few flags and enables it for those review copies.

that looks like some nicely developed paranoia

Of course he is, he certainly is not straight as he was before as is confirmed by warhorse.

Being optional is still a cope. It shouldn't be there at all. Henry was obviously straight in first game, this is not needed at all.

It's a retcon, face it, no need to call it anything else, especially not "character development" or something like that. It's in line with all other modern gaming "messages" we had in droves lately.

Why are you so worried about it, if you can just ignore it? Thats what i will do, my Henry stays the same as before.

Because i've seen what happened in previous games where same thing could too be "ignored" apparently, it always inevitably spills out and taints rest of content. There's rarely middle ground with this stuff.
Rarely are things "same as before" nowadays, with this stuff there's usually no "sacrifice the finger to spare the whole hand".
I've just seen too much of these examples so now i follow the old proverb "If your mouth is burned by milk, you blow before you eat yogurt".

Plus, i just dislike it out of principle. I don't respect these kind of retcons. I don't like idea of retconing previously straight character into bisexual, i played first game, even if Henry doesn't pursue women, he shows very obvious attraction to them and none to men.
If they wanted it, KCD2 could have had a different, new protagonist to do this, and it wouldn't be a retcon.

I don't oppose the addition of homosexuality in medieval games, obviously it existed in real life past, and even in KCD1 there were gay characters. I just oppose what feels like a retcon in making Henry bisexual.
As RPG player, having option to explore such an idea in medieval setting is actually kinda interesting, but it should be done with new character. Not an established one.

What exactly would that contribute to the game? Sexual interest should not be the focus of anything in a game, unless the focus is pornography. Deliberately making a protagonist gay for the sake of being gay, would not add anything of value to the game except chasing DEI agenda.

Henry is now bi, because apparently ppl change sexuality midlife and being gay is a choice that every lgbt person took volontarily according to the average doofus in here.

You don't think a gay character in a medieval world were being gay is a huge risk would not make for an interesting tale?

Going to have to brush up on some Arabic and ask the Saudi's the truth. They said there was unskippable gay sex scenes, Devs said thats a lie. They also said game wasnt banned in Saudi Arabia, which turned out to be a lie.

So really no one will know for a few more days. Just grab some popcorn and enjoy the show imo.

No that all came from a hoax site, there is a gay romance option but its totally ignorable and skippable if YOU the player decides to engage in it
