KCD2 Reviews - Any Indications of the Sentiment?

Reviews for KCD2 aren't in yet, but I have watched a lot of preview content, both from YouTubers and from other outlets.

So far things are looking optimistic, but does anyone have any good guesses as to how KCD2 will do upon review?

If I recall the first game did pretty well but was buggy at launch and that dinged it a bit.

I'm most interested in terms of overall performance, gameplay, and optimization

I expect big sites like IGN to have a positive yet slightly reserved take (9/10 is my bet, but 8/10 would not be beneath them). But they have often rated games poorly as they cater to more orthodox approaches to games. I mean IGN gave both the Witcher 3 and DA: Veilguard 9/10 and they are MILES between them quality-wise.

The people who have had a change to play it are almost all enthusiastic, even previous KCD 1 critics.

I wish 21Kiloton would review it. He's one of the best at dissecting a game from top to bottom while also mercilessly ridiculing it in the process, but he's inconsistent af sadly. His Starfield Videos were hilarious

Edit: He did actually review it and he didn't disappoint!

It will be about 75% I mean there is still things that don't work well from the first game they never fixed.

This game will have a first day patch, also it works on PS5 so prop will work on PC well too, and optimization by what we heard from players is good on high quality for them so, I imagine plebs like me can play it so, I believe it's gonna be good.

The game will have some flaws, but the general reviews will be better than with first game.

I still can see some "journalists" as Kotaku, screen rent maybe even IGN, having an issue that the game is "racist" "sexist" etc. (even though people who didnt played the game claim otherwise) but i believe the average will be about 8.5/10 with "Journalist" about 9/10 with players, and there will also be some 10/10

Dunno about the sentiment, but Germany's Gamestar have teased a possible new benchmark two weeks back -- if the game could keep the level it has to the end. "Witcher 3 levels". If so, hopefully without witcher senses doing all the role-playing. ;-)

I've always liked his content and found it hasn't steered me wrong in the past. I'll check out his KCD2 content as a result - but obviously everything gets taken with a grain of salt performance wise if theyre on 4090s in rural areas

Other creators I like:

That Other Gamer has a lot of good stuff on combat in KCD and KCD2 that I've seen

DareToGame, same deal on weapons and armors for the first game

As for reviewers - generally speaking Angry Joe comes in around where I am on most things, even if I think he is maybe a bit more lenient on sequels than is strictly necessary.

What I tend not to trust is IGN. While they have decent production values for their stuff, I've seen them give many games that were just straight up bad a 6 or 7 out of 10 and it didn't seem like they even engaged much with it to begin with

Yup, just remember that IGN gave Veilguard a 9 out of 10.

So Veilguard is somehow better than KCD1, Fallout New Vegas and Dragon Age Origins and on a level with games like Witcher 3, Ghost of Tsushima or Bloodborne.
The I in IGN stands for Ignorant after all

Who here said that it is? I was talking about IGNs scoring system being biased and unreliable.
