We'll you're in luck. It's not a retcon. To be a retcon something would need to occur that changes the history of the lore so if any option exists that has Henry following the same paths and has the same character make up as his past created then guess what? Not a retcon.
I'm going to make a dating simulation game where your character only eats vegetables at any date they go on. There's meat on almost every menu, but they only eat veggies the entire game. In the sequel after they find someone else who also only eats vegetables, I'm going to make it so if you go to the right restaurant on the right day, the characters will both order steak even though the particular restaurant they're eating at is a vegan restaurant.
No one will complain and it will make perfect sense.
I think you should read these topics to understand why people are angry.

If you are straight why do you care if someone is gay, who gives af? let them do what they want it doesn't effect your life in the slightest.
But Henry can sleep with tons of women, bath-maids probably a ton of side characters, so it breaks your immersion if there is one option of them saying do you like this dude named Phil and you say ♥♥♥♥ no and it never pops up again?
Thats not my opinion Thats a fact
The way I see it is either they're afraid they're going to turn gay from playing a game or they are closeted and worried that the temptation to choose the option is just too powerful.
If they stayed in the closet and didn't try to convince children that they might be gay too, I wouldn't care.
They're back to the R-word again...
