An open letter to Deep Silver/Warhorse and Daniel Vávra.

Much has been written over the past few weeks, much of it openly hostile, with regards to the woke changes made to KCDII.

I think it is following the 5 Stages of Grief, for most. After the emotional and temporal investment given by most fans of this IP, the betrayal felt is sharp and very real - particularly because most feel these changes were hidden, on purpose, in order to minimize the damage that was expected.

You knew this was going to get blowback - which is why you sat on it. It is also why anyone who voices opposition to these woke changes, valid or otherwise, on any grounds, gets brigaded by swarms of apologists running damage control, throwaway accounts or otherwise.

If a person's reasons for opposition to this woke subversion cannot be refuted, they are mocked relentlessly. If that does not work, then they are simply silenced.

10. Suppressing conservative/right-wing (and centrist/moderate) thought is accomplished by withdrawing freedom of speech, press and assembly for anyone who disagrees with leftists on the subjects of race, gender, religion, etc (e.g. deplatforming, socially shunning, cancelling, firing, doxxing, etc) - "Repressive Tolerance". Herbert Marcuse, 1965.

I fully expect to be brigaded and/or silenced/banned for this post. It does not matter.

I will not go into the rabbit hole of Koch Media, them buying WH, who bought them out, when and why, name changes, Black Rock owning a substantial short stock position of Embracer... where the influence came from to subvert Henry is known.

It is also likely why the release date was pushed back for so long - I suspect you, Mr. Vávra, were told "Make these changes, or we will make them for you." and you needed the time to make these changes. But, I have no proof and I doubt any will be coming forth anytime soon...

In closing, I just want to say how disappointed I am. Truly. Trust was placed in Deep Silver/WH and ultimately that trust was betrayed. I will add KCDII to the pile of casualties that has grown over the years and maybe someday someone will make an effort to salvage it...

In medieval times hung, drawn and quartered was reserved for crimes like high treason. You caught stealing? Say good bye to your right hand. For other crimes, if you were of noble birth, you'll get the axe (not to be used BY you, more like used AGAINST you ; ) ), commoners were to receive the rope. Why? Because it takes longer that way.

Especially from the 13th century onwards the church punished "sodomism" with burning at the stake. (That doesn't mean that they weren't tortured beforehand to get a confession out of them). Not because you were that a sinner, it was for other people to see what awaits them if they do the same. Executions were public in the medieval times, not what they do nowadays.

Yeah a ton of them openly admit to farming content, and I can't blame them. Money is Money, however people who hang off everything they say like its the gospel need to re-evaluate.

You play a set character, in 1 it was cannon that he is straight, the studio itself talked about it.
If you have the option it means that you could potentially accept that thus you are defacto bi.

If it wasn't in 1 and is in 2 it proves that warhorse dropped the pants and thus are worthless.

Also vavra confirmed this will be a character central to the story so expect immortal and plot armored...

That is my suspicion, but I have no proof. And I do not expect any, either. It's not like someone is going to data dump all the emails and corporate memos from Black Rock, Embracer and Plaion to WH, are they? Which would be the only way one could get proof.

The timeline, as near as I can put it together:

Koch Media buys WH after their success and takes ownership/control of the IP
Embracer buys Koch Media and owns the rights to the IP
Koch Media - the leadership either leaves or goes to work for Embracer
Koch Media - still owned by Embracer - changes their name to Plaion and bears no resemblance to Koch Media anymore
Embracer gets out over their skis and starts drowning in debt.
Embracer fires a bunch of people and sheds debt, but is still 1.5 billion USD in the hole.
Black Rock buys a short stock position on Embracer
WH announces release date push out to Feb '25
Chaos ensues when woke subversion and changes to the game are revealed <--- you are here
