KCD 2 IS TOP #9
Despite all the drama in the past days, this masterpiece has surged 11 places since last week in the steam overall top selling rankings.

Those 20 people that have started hundreds of threads must be fuming right now, that despite their most valliant efforts (writing the same bs over and over again) the game, developers and actual players and fans are much stronger than their attempts to discredit this beautiful project

Top#4 in Germany and rising

Also, People from other Continents existed, even 500 Years ago.
Get over it!
And some ancient Greeks and Romans were enjoing decadent Bi-Sexuality, way earlier.

I'm not a fan of how they're handling representation, but this isn't remotely the first time that I think a game handled representation poorly but still had a very, very decent game all the same.

- They have 1 camp of Romani people in the game. Romani in Bohemia is a few years early, but it's still fairly accurate.

- They have Turkic Cumans in the service of King Sigismund.

- They have 1 ahistorical black guy in the service of King Sigismund.

- They give players the choice to be gay, but they gotta work for it and there's potential consequences.

WH deceided to make small compromises. I can accept this.

there is no proof the Romani is too early, as per some sources there probably were there already for some 30-50years. It is not known exactly though (proven), due to their nomadic nature, when exactly they came

I found three sources about Romani in Bohemia and all either said "early 15th Century" or "1420s-1430s", so during/slightly after Hussite era. But you're probably right, it coulda been earlier; it's difficult to say exactly when nomadic people 'nomadically' entered Bohemia down to the year.

This thread became totally off topic, but to answer you, ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ (romani) came to Greece in late 11th to early 12th century and spread to Hungary in 14th century, full hundred years before KCD 2. There are uncountable mentions of them in balkan and hungar chronicles. So, to summarize, firstly I don´t understand why you have the urge to mention it in this specific thread and secondly from historical view, their appearance, nomadic style of life and living in this game is perfectly accurate.

There are literally hundreds of thousands of messages written by tens of thousands of people ALL OVER social media and forums complaining about the addition of Henry's homosexuality to KCD2.

If you think that is all the work of 20 very dedicated people, I don't know what to tell you...

We'll see. I mean, you leftists were literally wrong about EVERY OTHER woke game that you said wouldn't fail in the last year....

The first game was an intensively popular BASED game at a time when the market was just starting to get filled with woke games. It sold 8 million copies.

This game is coming out with an EXISTING fan base of 8 million people and into a market FLOODED with woke games like Concord, Dust born, Suicide Squad and Dragon Age. All of these overtly woke games have lost money. People are clearly sick of them.

If it was the one big BASED game coming out now, it would have had a huge advantage: not only was 1) the first game great and 2) there was an existing fan base of 8 million but also 3) it would have been the first big BASED game in a sea of woke garbage, that's a huge unique selling point in an environment where the 3rd largest curator group on steam is some random guy who just listed as the games that SBI worked on.

This game should have sold 25 million copies, it should be in the top 50 all time best selling games... the stars aligned PERFECTLY for it. People were HUNGRY for it... there is NO WAY it does that now.

They are going to end up making no one happy: it will still be too based for most far left woke nutjobs and normal men are SO sick of homosexual ♥♥♥♥ being shoved in front of us in every piece of media out there that for MANY of us, one gay sex scene is enough not to buy what looks like it will otherwise be a good game.

The people cheering for LGBT+ Henry aren't really going to buy or play the game, they are just political activists, they post in whatever forum they can to push their agenda...

The first game was one of the best video games I've played in the last decade... OF COURSE a lot of people are still going to buy the on auto-pilot: kids who have stolen their parents credit card number, people who don't read, homosexuals, people with purple hair, etc.

That's not the question, the question is: how many millions less are they going to sell because of this?

The first game sold 8 million. Are they going to sell more than 8 million or less than 8 million?

My guess is they are going to sell less than 8 million.

The demographic attracted to the first game is EXACTLY the demographic that will have the biggest problem with this change. So to pretend it won't have an impact is crazy.

Ultimately, warhorse handled this horribly, they attempted to hide it and cover it up and sneak it in so people would not get to the gay part until 2 weeks or 2 hours of gameplay later, and then its too late to return it....

...they tried to trick us. And that's not cool.

But they made the game in the Czech Rep, where everything is cheaper, so they don't even have to sell that many copies to break even.

It will sell millions of copies and it won't lose money, but it will not sell anywhere near what it would have sold if they had just made a normal game.

Of course they are inconsequential. The game looks truly groundbreaking and some homophobes won't change that.
Phobia is an anxiety disorder, a medical condition.
Why are you so hateful against people with medical conditions?
LostInSpace 29. jan. kl. 9:42
Yeah, steam forum has more activists than players nowadays. Gonna be a great game for sure

There is literally no sales data whatsoever. We don't have the numbers, just a chart of where it is. That was my point. I'm not saying it's the same situation, I'm saying that relying on inaccurate data is foolish in the extreme. It could be #1 and it doesn't guarantee it is going to be a great seller. We simply will not have better numbers until the game actually releases.

So tell me you don't know how trends work without telling me. Please tell us how forecasting works? You know, that thing that every corporation in America does and has highly paid analyst for? I'll wait.

I suppose you think Vavra is looking at it on his twitter because it looks pretty. gtfo
What are you even trying to say lol. Forecasting what? You can't extrapolate sales data from a list without any actual figures to delineate what being a top seller even entails. How about you throw another silly gen z meme template at me.

Veilguard was #1 top selling Steam game before release. As was Suicide Squad. Both were considered financial failures, with Veilguard being a unique catastrophe, effectively missing targets by 50% according to EA. The art director fired. And the plug pulled on the code life support after only 3 months (last patch was only a few days ago).

Any of these heavily marketed big budget games should be at a min #1 in Steam best sellers before release, which clearly means squat in terms of actual sales numbers.

I'm astonished by its unconvincing position a week out. The game's well-concealed woke-sellout wasn't, by Veilguard standards, apocalyptic. It was merely two-faced.

I would've put the damage at 5% min and 10% max re: loss of original fans in sales.

Now I'm not too sure.

The studio is listed as 250 employees. Versus 320 for Bioware, who also have Mass Effect in the works.

5 years of development for KCD2.

That's quite a tab they'll have racked up. 5% will hurt them, but it wouldn't want to be much more than that or you're looking at mild layoffs and a tarnished rep.

That's the worst thing that can happen here, as it'll be 'remembered' sorely when it comes to round 3.

I find it hard to believe anyone is buying this game for the writing, however, if they cannot even read between the lines of cack-handed authorial manipulation. The recent 'we're on your side, don't worry' promo video with suddenly 100% heterosexual MC after all the backlash.

If you can't even spot what's going on there, or that this auld lad Varva is a conniving wannabe puppet-master, will you have to also get a giant red hand pointing at the villain in-game?

The game's of high interest in terms of its long-term reception.

One thing is certain - there are many who will not buy until they've 'got word' the betrayals aren't as feared, some weeks after the game releases.

But for writers this underhanded, who can expect much of the story. They would throw their own mothers under the bus to get the DEI investment. Then do the same with their fathers to win back their disgruntled fans.

Why are gay people in this thread acting as if the only reason someone might cancel their pre-order is because MUH HOMOPHOBIA? And not, say, the explicitly anti-White code of conduct?

Any other reason you guys constantly cling onto? The Devs didn't even make the code of conduct.
Any other reason I cling to? What? Try that again, this time make sense, leftoid

Lololol

Original fans? You think the original crowd is enough to fund this game? O.k. so let's be real here...it's a 14th century reinactment of Bohemia. No magic no dragons...a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ snorefest to most people...oh but you need to take baths and make sure your Henry is fed or you want get the good dialog options.

So why did the game sell so well? It was 3 dollars on Steam for most of its life. Impulse buys are a majority of the sales...The completion rate was 11%...about as low as it goes....average games are at about 30..Christ each one of Elden Rings 3 endings were at 30%

Try to get a budget for a sequel with that ♥♥♥♥. Chances are Musas the saving grace of this franchise and your all being ♥♥♥♥♥ to him...

i do remember some of you extremist anti woke said baldurs gate 3 is woke and would fail.

I am anti woke but people like you overdo it.
Pick your battles.
Dont fight the tiny guy that makes good games that are not woke and only add a few options that are optional.

Mass efffect had gay romance optional and is not woke.

fight the guys like ubisoft and EA.

In the end this game will do well, very well.
Even remotly comparing this to veilguard is compelty out of touch with reality.
