Kind of tempted to wait until the blacksmith DLC is released before first play through, anyone else?
I think it would be more fun to be able to RP the blacksmith angle at the same time as opening up the story and game world, instead of getting into it after being far in the game or restarting. The DLC in KCD1 were nice to have and enjoy while I wasn't overpowered and or still earning my play in the game world, it fit nicely.

I guess there's no way of knowing how much or little that DLC is going to make available upon release or whether its simply a series of quests related to becoming a noteworthy blacksmith. It's sort of a downside to DLC content that builds around the base game compared to those that keep the new content to a new map and new quests.

When I was younger I might be more inclined to replaying games like this but nowadays I'm aiming to try and get through in a single ideal run.

I am more inclined to do one run knightly Henry and one run only for smithing and see how far i can perfect the craft of Henry.

in KCD1 you were not able to do an ideal run, there were many possibilities you missed by trying "something", like restoring Pribyslavice as illiterate

in KCD2 since it will be bigger, the possibilities will be larger too
It is a bit annoying knowing a dlc will release around the corner. The dlc could go a few ways too. Like requiring you be sufficiently into the main game, or requiring a lot of money investment.

I remember from the ashes required like 40-50 thousand currency.

you could have started with much less, even like with almost zero money and stuff. Downside of that was that you would need to obtain the money not only for upgrades, but also for running the village. :) So at least a bit challenging than doing it with 40k already in the pocket

Haha, yes, I'm sure I missed things by not being illiterate, or other configurations. I don't mean to see or know an "optimal" run given all possibilities as I'm not going to research and play the game in such a way as it would take much of the fun and surprise away.
Wait…blacksmithing is not in at release?

Ya, that's true. But coming out months after release is more than long enough to have completed the game and or accumulate wealth.

I guess on the other hand people then also complain about day 1 DLC which also makes sense. I guess I'm hoping for an impossible situation.

No I imagine it is as it was also in the first, but there is a DLC based focused around blacksmithing coming out in the summer.

as mentioned, fair. I know I tend to replay some games and some others are sitting untouched in my library due to trying all the possible crapy situations like that :D. poor unfavored games .(
