French dub is awful and uses AI
I was watching some previews from French Youtubers and the dubbing is just plain awful and there's blatant use of AI. If they use AI for the French dub then I suspect it'll be the same for German , Italian etc... can anyone who speaks these languages confirm that ?

It's a shame too because the French dub was quite good for the first game but here they just don't care, there was a video about it but it got taken down by Plaion (Warhorse's publisher). I asked Vavra about it on Twitter and never got an answer, seems they don't want this getting out.

Oops you are right. I split the difference between standard and gold. The point stands.
i don't know a single game that does localized dubbing perfectly.

I said video-game-level competent, not perfect.

practically every game has issues with that though.

Neither was the first game yet no issue there.
uhm thats not even remotely true. even the first game had dubbing issues.

Issue sure, but nothing compared to this. They had more budget this time so no excuse.

budget isn't everything when it comes to dubbing though.

its generally an afterthought and quality isn't 100% up to the developers

Exactly, imagine instead of polishing the game six months to release, you're allocating resources to dubbing in languages you don't even understand. Dubbing is like hiring an entire new cast of voice actors, for every language, it's insane to ask that of a small Dev team.

And btw, many of the dubbing for KCD was outsourced via fans/crowd-sourced.

Yeah, it was much easier to do a passable localization when it was crowd sourced, imagine trying to do that now when owned by massive IP holding company that has two layers of subsidiaries to handle publishing and PR supporting you.

Massive levels of cope.

Then they shouldn't have done it in the first place. As it is you're gonna have a terrible dub that's gonna ruin the experience for thousands, tens of thousands of players at launch. Warhorse should just be straight with their customers, instead they're taking down videos exposing this.

I also presume it'll be the same lack of care for all other dubs, so many more people than you think will be affected by this.

personally I don't know anyone who actively relies on dubbed versions for media entertainment. they either find the quality too poor or just prefer the original.

You don't know many people then, and what about the console audience ?

to be honest, I tried looking into it and I have seen nothing about supposed AI involvement so far.

I am skeptical as a lot of people tend to blame AI for lots of things even when AI wasnt even involved.

I don't even know if there's an option to change a single game's language or if you need to reboot your system in English for consoles. As I said people are not gonna know in advance that the dub's s hit and their experience will be ruined. Warhorse should be straight with their customers, tell us beforehand and don't try to hide it. I don't get why you're defending a company trying to screw over a large part of their customers.
