I'm probably not really adding much here, but I just wanted to say that, yes, whilst I get the furore about the 'woke' stuff, it's an RPG - I've played Mass Effect, Baldur's Gate, could go on and on, they all have these elements and all are great games. The inclusion of sex/race doesn't automatically mean 'woke', especially in an RPG - it's the intent/agenda that dictates whether it is or not.

With KCD2, it may or may not be, don't know at this point. If I were a betting man, I'd actually say it'll be fine, these are minor elements, and the integrity of the game remains and it'll be a GOTY contender.

But I'll never actually know from playing it myself, because the reason I won't buy this game is because of the behaviour of Daniel Vávra.

I can't financially support a product from someone just posting crying GIFs and labelling anyone with the slightest concern as a 'grifter'. It's ridiculous - all of this, every bit of it, would have been assuaged if the devs came out with a statement like grown ups to allay people's fears.

We've had five or so years of gaming being polluted with agenda-driven nonsense, utterly trashing games and beloved franchises, so naturally people are going to be maybe a bit overly sensitive to ANY indication another one is going to bite the dust.

Why were the developers here so out of touch as to not realise this?

They had all the good will in the world and torched it, and I can't for the life of me understand why this close to release.

So yeah, don't know if adding anything new, but I had to post just to counter the 'grifters' reasoning from Vávra, because while it didn't cost you a pre-order from me, it certainly cost you a sale - my plan was to buy a week or so after release if the game was reported as bug free.

I won't be now, and that's a shame.

It's sad you decided to make a choice based on a behavior of one man.
But, I always respect a choice when it is your choice and not someone else's.
You seem like a decent person so cya in another RPG.

Daniel Vulva did that? Insulting the people criticizing you- no matter the reason- is just classless as a game creator, but I'm not surprised considering he's from the little hat people.

If the game is good, I don't care about the drama.

And I hope you enjoy it, genuinely.

I'm not saying it should be a red line for anyone else, it just is for me.

All they had to do was... pfft, actually, I'll just write now the statement they should have released in real time, will take me 30 seconds.

"Hey everyone - we'd just like to address the recent rumours and controversy surrounding romance options in KCD2.

Whilst we understand the concerns expressed by many of you, given the wider context of the gaming industry, these options exist solely to offer the widest possible roleplaying experience for our players, and are entirely optional.

Most importantly, they have not been implemented at the expense of our creative vision, which is to provide the best possible game when it releases next month.

We can't wait to share KCD2 with you."

... instead of Vávra's approach of "lolz cry harder grifter virgins."

I just think one is a bit better than the other.

One man made KCD2?

Take a deep breath and think. Please.

Vavra tried to pull a Naughty-Dog-style bait-and-switch on the customers, but his scheme was outed before launch day. Just like Naughty Dog's was.

Now he's being salty on Twitter about it, and it's left to the CM to persuade everyone that Warhorse actually cares about its games anymore.

What a sad state of affairs. And how things have clearly changed at the studio since the first KCD game. It's Embracer's world now, and they've got a cemetery plot ready for KCD2--right alongside the Saints Row reboot.

Pure corporate insanity.

RevSaysDesu IS a grifter though.

Unfortunately hindsight is 20/20.

Personally I think it's all blown way out of proportion.

I imagine that if WH had have said that Toth in KCD 1 was gay, this would have happened back then too.

Some people just like to screech about things that they consider offensive to their sensibilities.

I suppose it's okay for gamers to go on a unhinged rant but it's no-no for developers because we all know developers are not human.

The developers and their community managers are lying and trying to gaslight us to our faces; it's an insane amount of disrespect.

I think some you-tubers read the mob and go with it rather than do their research and make sure their information is correct.

Totally agree, the guys behavior is completely unhinged, and the censorious bs theyve been doing on steam has left a terrible taste in my mouth. I loved the first game but im done with this company after this

I have seen this said more than once but I still can't see a good example.

He did say on Twitter he was responsible for Musa for example. I can't keep track of it all, how much of the game he wrote etc. If you know feel free to share.
Sorry I am not registered on twitter.

I am however a part of the community here.
I have no desire to tweet replies on tweets on this forum, just as I wouldn't post forum posts on twitter if I was there.

Nah. Loads of games had gay characters - Outer Worlds had Parvati as an asexual character, nobody cared, the characters was well liked. 'The Ballad of Gay Tony' had 'gay' in the title, nobody cared; indeed Tony Prince was adored.

It was the forced DEI agenda-setting in recent years that made it toxic.

You'll always get the odd homophobe gamer, but in general it wasn't a case of "oh that's in the game, it's going to suck" until lately.
