KCD Youtubers are the new Biased ''Game Journalists''

There is another important topic most people missing but I want to warn gamers who look forward to watch reviews from Youtubers before deciding to buy KCD2.

Warhorse Studio followed an entirely different root and has sent preview keys to many Youtubers first instead the big gaming journalism companies like IGN, Gamespot etc. But almost all of these Youtube content creators are biased guys and will never tell you negatives about the game. I've been watching these guys for years and they regularly get invites from the studio and have fun in Prague. These are clearly new game journalists. Couple of them are;

KCD2 mechanically will be a much better game than KCD1, that's for sure but there is actually 0% chance narratively it will feel as unique as the first game. Cos when I was playing the first game I was always feeling I was immersed in 14th century Medieval Bohemia. Now as soon as I see Mansa Musa, or the route for pushing Henry into a d*ck lover softy boy it will ruin the entire experience and immersion and I'll feel the DEI agenda more than the Medieval Bohemian setting.

Look, game journalism is enthusiast journalism per se. Just like automotive journalism or any hobbyist reporting like that--the job is to reflect, advocate for, and advance the consumer interest. Because, every article such journalist publishes, every word such journalist writes, potentially informs a purchase. Potentially directs how an enthusiast will spend their money.

Unfortunately in 2014, video game journalism adopted an expressly adversarial stance against video game enthusiasts. That was when it all began to fall about for games journalism as it eschewed its fundamental, core mission and reason for existence.

That created a vacuum. Content creators (e.g., YouTubers) showed up to fill that vacuum. It's really just that simple.

After the YT'ers who had pre-release access to cities skylines 2 shilled it right up to launch, despite having the broken ass thing in their hands and knowing it was a steaming pile - zero trust.

Zero trust. These people are incentivized to sell at you to keep and expand the access and freebies, and they need people interested in order to make money streaming after release.

I think I have watched all previews of KCD2 on youtube, none of them is negative on the game. Some people just don't like others having an interest in a game they don't support for stupid reasons.

- It's not possible to be in the game
- That is just a picture, its most likely a mod!
- The video's quailty is so bad and the graphics arent the same as the photo, its fake

A lot of the Boobtubers reviewing KCD2 and liking it are the same people who reviews KCD and called it "Euro-jank" and kinda sh*t all over it, spending most of the time focusing on its flaws and how much they hate the combat system. Even to this day, KCD forums are 50% "This combat sucks".

These guys are actually worse than usual gaming media cos reviews from companies like IGN will always point some negatives and positives, they just come up with false ratings. But these guys have no responsibility to a company, only to themselves.

This is why I basically throw out any review by anyone who was given a free key doesn't matter if its journo or a youtuber they are both worthless, I toss it in the garbage as they have a financal access incentive to lie and rate the game positivly to keep access for later titles they aren't allowed to give their honest opinions. I'd wait till the 2nd wave of reviews, as these are done by people who have bought the game themselves and have no real incentive to kiss the studio's arse and lie about what they think about it.

You really noticed this with veilguard reviews, the 1st ones were all full of crap including the youtubers who got a free key, I'd suggest you follow this route with any game and ignore the first set of reviews due to them having some incentive to rate it higher than it deserves.

You're 100% right, OP. None of the mainstream review companies are honest. There are also plenty of shill Youtubers as well.

I mean the combat does look really stupid, there is really no denying that. Its far to slow paced even for supposedly being realism. In the 2nd game I can't watch a fight scene without bursting out laughing at how stupid the stance is the npcs use, they look like clowns. You can't tell me they actually fought like that. I dunno if its just the stuff we've seen so far or if every npc dances around like a clown holding a sword in KCD2
