Is Henry an established character or not?
Is henry me or is henry henry?

is he an established character or a blank slate?

I'm getting mixed messages here from 2015 to now

I never think any videogame protagonist is me. I didn't write their stories. I only get to select things from what someone else wrote.

I feel confident that players who are women don't think Henry is them.
He is a semi established character.

Meaning that he has a set past, set role in society from start, set look, personality and so forth.. But he is playershaped in terms of smaller events (Do you support peasant 1 or 2) (Do you like love interest A or B or None) (Do you want to comiit crimes?) etc.. but the overall character and story is set.

As for the sexuality (if that is what you talk about) Henry have always been somewhat playersexual (meaning you decide) albeit the first game showcased (in scenes) him as a rather... happy teenager when it comes to starring at apples.

That is not what the OP ask.

Ie. You can in some cases make your own backstory, pick your personality, how you look, etc etc... that is you making a complete role, maybe you are placed in a scneario, but the character is yours.

But you can also have set characters (think about many action adventures) where the character is already a specific personality, looks a specific way, in this case you still play a role (obviously) but the role is set, you have no agency..

Often a voiced protagonist means you have less agency.

According to the community manager Henry is Henry, he is straight. But also he doesn't know why he said that, and was just making stuff up without actually knowing. But he does know that Henry is you now, and that you don't have to be gay so it's all good. But he also doesn't know why this change was made supposedly. At the same time he claims he knew there would be backlash about this, but did nothing to preempt it.

You tell me if that sounds like a competent honest community manager, or someone who was sent here for damage control.

From what I gather..
he used to be an established character because they didn't have budget
now he is you, because they have budget.
He's dating Blanka even before KCD 1 begins. Gay Henry makes zero sense. It'd be like making James Bond or Indiana Jones gay because 'choices'.

Henry is a set, established character.
Yes he is. You are (playing as) Henry. He exists already, you didn't create him. So Henry is not you, you are playing as the character "Henry", who acts withing the bounds of his already established personality.

They started taking Embracer ESG money in exchange for mandated DEI quotas. Literally.
