Why i think the game is woke

As a hardcore gamer who closely follows gaming news and controversies i will say that i am always sceptical and don't listen to what others say but think for myself. In this case it's not just one thing that makes this game likely woke and dei focused but a culmination of things. There are a few red flags already that most probably know but one rises above the rest.

Devs thought it was a good idea to spend time and effort to program gay romance in 15th century Bohemia instead of potentially improving other aspects of the game or making an additional straight meaningful romance for the majorities. Ok, one could argue it is to explore how gay people were treated at the time.

There is a black healer/physician who is civilized and free which for the time period in Bohemia is extremely unlikely. Ok, although extremely unlikely it wasn't outside the realm of possibility chatgpt says.

The publisher of warhorse is obviously woke and the code of conduct enforced here reflects that. Ok, that doesn't mean that warhorse themselves is also woke.

Unhinged behavior by the devs, calling even defenders of the game names, marks a common attitude of how woke creators handle backlash. Ok, maybe they got angry and mishandled the situation, it's not definitive proof.

It was stated 8 years ago by the devs that Henry was straight. Now they retconned their own lore. Not a good excuse for this one.

But for me the biggest red flag of all, the one that makes my pattern recognition senses tingle is the preachy dialogue that you can read in one of the image captures of the physician. He speaks to you about how much greater his country is and how much better they treat their women over there.

The exact sentence is "Overall, it is safer in our country - nobody will waylay you on your journey. And we treat women with greater respect and set great store by learning!"

What a ludicrous thing to say. It's so ludicrous for the time period coming from him that it feels like rage bait. If you even have a surface knowledge of history you will roll your eyes.

Do they really think people are that dumb? This is multiple red flags into one sentence. Feminism agenda, condescension, historical revisionism... It is just so obvious virtue signaling to me that i don't see how anyone can defend this game anymore. if you think this is ok then you might be a victim of the boiling frog syndrome.

Anyhow that is all i had to say.

I honestly think that wookies have entered a phase where they claim to be anti-woke but are actually more woke than ever, they infiltrate, they play dirty, they accuse you of everything that could harm you depending on the context.

Honest question but why do you have so many woke games (and positively reviewed at that)? E.g. FFVII Remake, FFXVI, Space Marine 2 (people flip flopped on whether it's woke or not), God of War 2016, Baldur's Gate 3 (which you list as GOTY 2023) even Tsushima was already "woke". It's just genuinely astounding how many people who talk about not buying woke games do in fact buy, play and ENJOY woke games.

I never played FFVII Remake. As for XVI, it only has one gay character and his story doesn't even revolve around his sexuality. God of War wasn't woke until the second part. And if you read my review of Baldurs Gate 3 you can see that I say that the worst thing about the game is how badly the sexuality of the characters is treated and how in the end once you get through this it doesn't detract from the rest. Ghost of Tsushima isn't woke but its second part will be. And we can continue with all the games I've reviewed, but I can still answer you in a less specific way and that is that at first I was willing to have some tolerance, diversity is not bad in itself, then the destruction began and Newton's third law came into effect. The wookies have destroyed all the franchise they've touched and things always start like with KCD II.

You are clueless about what is going on with the game industry. Things are so bad for the big studios that it's heading to a crash. Also only 1 if any of the games you mentioned above could be considered woke. And because it's fantasy, its diversity makes much more sense than a historical game like KCD2.

You are clueless about what is going on with the game industry. Things are so bad for the big studios that it's heading to a crash. I'm not clueless about what's going on in the industry. That's why I refuted your claim that most big games are massive flops (which simply isn't true in any case). Anyone who is going to claim that something like DEI or Woke are (huge) reasons for problems in the industry, is clueless. Seriously, take a look at the Matthew Ball's analysis of the industry. Not a word on "woke" or "DEI", the problems lie elsewhere.

a CoC that warhorse likely had them remove considering that an actual warhorse CoC is now patrolling the forums to answer people and keep things more civilized.

deffinetely the second part. even the CM of warhorse in these forums talked about it how all he can do is to clean up after the "force of nature"

you do realize that that is historically accurate? you need to stop looking at that from a modern sensibilities standpoint.
their culture genuinely thought they were the more enlightened people back then. which quite frankly every culture throughout history thought.
so i find it a very fitting and accurate line for him to say. and it's already confirmed everyone around that npc will treat him like the odd thing he is so out of place in that setting.

I somehow probably looked at XVI "twice" or just misremembered as so many profiles feature both of these so that's my bad.
Anyway, it does look like there's a lot of leniency of when a game is woke and it isn't but at the same time it's also direct contrast in what others often consider woke which once again shows how it's such a person-to-person thing that none of it really makes any sense. Like for instance Tsushima and Yotei; former literally has lesbian companion and isn't woke while the latter is (apparently) woke because of a woman MC and possibly dealing with racism? We don't exactly have much more information that and yet it's DECIDEDLY "woke" and "bad"?
