Better graphics can't simply be slapped together. According to Luke Dale, WH doesn't use AI-generated content so it has to be done by hand (and AI-upscaling has artifacts that, once you know what they look like, you spot them immediately whenever someone uses it).
When the systems are different, you can't just plug in the old scripts and content into the systems for the newer game. Every bit has to be examined and much of it has to be adjusted at best and rewritten usually.
While engines typically consume the same file formats throughout their versions, the different versions are tuned and tooled differently. That requires retuning the content.
So, what would we prefer: Them focus on redoing KCD1 or working on their next project?
Do you have some recommendations for mods ?
Thanks for the insight, didn't know it wasn't that easy. So yeah, I prefer a KC3 if that takes this much time.
I hope not. I prefer the moral compass and historical focus in KCD I much more.
Maybe an option to switch the controls to KCD2 controls, so you don't have to re-learn each game again when switching between.
I think remastering it would be a waste of money. But if warhorse is willing to give some bug fixes or optimization for kcd1, I would be okay with that.
Of course this would mean keeping it the same as the original without any sneaky DEI creeping into it.
If they made a updated or enhanced/remade version of KCD1 I would go so far as buying it again.
Call it what you want. the second game is dripping with executive meddling.
