KCD2 Rain implementation - copied from video games from the late 90s?
Warhorse created such an immersive , beautiful RPG to then spoil it with such a garbage rain system.
Visually, it looks like trash. Implementation wise, well, it rains inside houses, caves , sometimes it stops randomly and starts randomly. just awful and immersion breaking.
To the lazy Dev (or intern) who implemented that in the game - no way you are proud of this junk.
this must have been the lowest effort copy pasted feature in KCD2. What a shame because everything else is in a completely different league.

I'm replaying the first game after finishing the second and I am flabbergasted at how much better the weather looks. Rain, lightning, and the reflective effect on plants in the first game just looks SO much better.
Even rains in the inventory screen in Kuttenberg.

Oh and forget about Nighthawk in rain too. It's like having giant hailstones on screen.

Bad rain is bad, doesn't even wash your armour off.

good news - Devs acknowledged that rain is a complete and utter trash and said it will be fixed. When? who knows. Hopefully in the next best big update

yea i dont want rain that gives me 2fps liek cyberpunk or something
Maybe check the spec requirements before buying a game....
I agree rain is horrible, can't see ♥♥♥♥ aside from the damn near grey rain on the surface level of the visuals. It's not even rain effects at that point its just awful
The occlusion seems pretty decent, mostly with a few exceptions in overhanging rock areas.

But the way they apply it is a bit ugly for sure, seems like they have 2 sheets of animated textures in the players face when they should have a multitude of smaller segments simulating it, and possibly particle effect for closer up area around Henry.

When I was killing Istvan Toth the rain literally filled the room and ruined an otherwise dramatic scene with its jank. I can forgive its implementation in the open world but how did nobody playtest this? Its literally scripted rain for the main quest.

Can't argue with that, I just skip time when it goes all "omg look at the rain" animation.

Was already trash in KCD1 - makes you go snowblind

I really love Warhorse for what they gave us but rain is really right out of the privvy :D - and the Blacksmith sent us there hahaha
I just got a new bug. Now when it rains I see rain in my menu screens. I'm trying to fiddle with my inventory and look at the map but there's a constant rain effect on my screen.
The problem with going high on fidelity is that it's more noticeable when something's lacking in it. It grabs your attention and holds onto it. You can't unsee it. All the high-fidelity stuff is dragged down by even the smallest lower-quality details.
Rain + Nighthawk = Blind Henry.

I also skip time or save and reload to bypass the "obvious tiled texture blocks that are supposed to evoke falling water" mistakenly used for rain.
I was impressed the first time I encountered a visually striking (pun intended) bolt of lightning out in the wild, but felt immediate disappointment when the rain started to drop and my poor Nighthawk-potioned eyes could see it too clearly.

I was then further disappointed to find out just how frequently it rains...
