Why no master strike with maces?
I loved using mace and shield in the first game, but making master strike a sword only option kinda makes every other weapon obsolete

I've only just started the game and finding out you can't master strike with maces has kinda bummed me out haha Has anyone used maces and found them effective? If you riposte the enemy just counters with their own riposte and so fights will go on for ages without master strike!!!

Master Strikes are about using the same motion to parry and strike. That works with a sword (block with the edge and thrust with the point all at once) but not with a mace.

Despite not having Master Strikes, maces and war hammers are worth having for when you're fighting enemies who have good plate armour, as piercing and slashing attacks struggle against plate.

It isn't so bad on the first map, but on the second map master strikes become the most effective way to defeat an enemy.

It's kinda funny that I trained heavy weapons in the middle of the questline from the second map and the reason is that in fights with allies they become suddenly the best weapon again.
Because of their blunt damage, they can kill an enemy much faster, but that only works when the enemy is distracted by an ally, so you can hit him in the back freely.

Maces when the enemy focuses on someone else and swords in almost all other situations.
I also used polearms at the start, but now I'm only using them by fighting wolfes and such.

Just like horse changes, no one asking for and ruining the entire experience. May be some genius in dev team thinks this will make us value combo more but turn out no, we just don't play other weapons anymore. Why will you play other weapon when they can't let you fight properly(I have blunt level 14 ish go a dual mission for entire evening and still stuck there struggling, then I pick my new pap's sword with level 7 ish ? Master strike ! Master strike ! Master strike ! And my opponent die, 5 minutes folded) ? No one irl will swing their weapon like an ixxxt, every experience fighter use so call "master strike" in KCD term. On the other hand KCD npc is alway as smart as an really opponent who will never leave U a clean pass for Ur random swinging go through their defense. I bet Warhorse just haven't think the entire thing through before they make this changes. Even though I do hope KCD series not being that QTE intense but that requires the entire element changed not just remove MS from weapons. Enemy had to be more "rexxxded" to make a much "organic" fighting experience work. The best example for this must be Bellwright (Sxxty game btw) enemy is dxxb enough they can't parry all your attack like KCD.

In that regard they give us a retarded dog which prefer to running circles instead of biting enemy asses to accompany us. And that mxxxn beast can even block you way from dodging enemy attacks with its collision box🤦🤦🤦.
Why don't just give us lord Capon ? He will surely be an excellent bullet magnetic even without his sword and not only make other weapons more viable but also make crossbow somewhat playable.
I don't even know why heavy crossbow exist at least point if it can't one shot nothing and neither can it be reload under any circumstance except for those group xxxing main quest(and failed in the end of course due to the low DPS).
Forgiving my strong word but I really think Warhorse don't know what they are doing this time.
They make more weapons into the game this time but also make all the weapons but sword functionality not exist.

Pay attention to your purple bar next time (your opponents HP). Without combo or a charge attack your mace is doo doo water. Meanwhile master strike, big damage, regardless if let's armor or not. And is away way easier to get a free hit just by focus on defending Urself(master strike just parry but with direction involved) and potentially instant kill your opponent.
