What is your weapon skill strategy?
So do you gusy only focus on ONE weapon skill (sword, heavey weapons, polearms) , or invest your experience in different weapon skills? As for me right now i focus on sword and heavy weapons, since they are much better against heavy armored opponents, as you know.

However, i have the feeling that "dividing" my skills to those 2 might be an error, since opponents get better and stronger, while you are "stuck" on lets say lvl 15 sword and lvl 15 heavy, while facing a lvl 30 sword or heavy weapons opponent....

Whats your thoughts on that and your strategy? Only game mechanics pls, no spoilers ;)

Axe......chop them up into little f dog treats........nothing else.....
I just stuck with swords the whole playthrough. Heavily armoured enemies were still dying in 2-3 hits, so I felt no need to invest so much time into levelling heavy weapons.

There are some tournaments later in the game that have multiple disciplines. But nothing that's mandatory to the main story.

It does pay to keep a polearm in your inventory though just for siege battles (pushing ladders off of the walls).
i use weapons depending on the situation, i stick with a sowrd (either short or long) for human enemies since with master strikes you can take down even armored opponents easily and use a polearm when dealing with wolves or stray dogs for the extra reach

but honestly i dont think that you can do much wrong, you should use the weapon you want to use
Armour really doesn't matter that much in terms of weapon types at least.

You can still one shot dudes in full plate with a sword for example. They'll still bounce regular bows sometimes though.

Swords have master strikes which make them the noobtoob of KCD2.

Heavy weapons though, actually require effort to use. Henry's lung disease aside (they cost a lot per swing), they wreck shields and stamina.

Polearms are a horsey weapon really, with enemy super lunges they just aren't great in ground melee.

Overall pick weapons you're interested in early and use them before the enemies upgrade.
2 handed sword beats everything is you know how to fight. No need for other weapons but I do use a bow to soften the enemies up. And sometimes the halberd because of those damned ladders.

I Used Sword untill i had high Strength and Agility because with the Master Strike it made combat easy AF... But once my stats high enough i played around with other weapons

I'm using the bow with eagle eye. I'm a thief and swindler.

Actually, 1 handed sword without a shield is the king of damage.

As someone said above, keeping a polearm in inventory is nice (although you can find one during main story sequences).
Doesn't have to be the best one, certain fight feel free to lose polearm duel because you'll win long and short sword part easily.

In any case, you should use whatever you find most fun.
Ignore min/max stuff, this is singleplayer RPG and you are supposed to have fun, not to compete in nonexisting pvp.

Once you unlock the master strike, throwing all your effort into maximizing Swordsmanship is the only thing that makes sense.

Leveling other combat disciplines can be situationally beneficial depending on the quest.

Swords are the only ones with masterstrike and masterstrike is just to good not to use so stick with swords.
Although that will leave you in an awkward situation in that polearm duel where both your weapons break and noone can damage the other.

How does that compete with one handed and no shield though?
The skills make it very strong, though I carry both and use longsword for duels and one handed for propper battles.

Leveling anything is beneficial so your main level grows and you get some additional buffs.
Means, try everything, train everything (you have tons of cash anyway) and don't ignore booze! 😈

It won't because you've read books you found and you've paid to train polearms before the duel happens. And of course you've used blacksmith kit to repair the tier 3 polearm to 100 before the fight.
You'll probably still lose the duel, but luckily it is 2 wins from 3 fights and you'll destroy the guy with swords afterwards. ;)
Note that even if you lose all those duels, you can still finish the sidequest.

True, the Knight's Sword is insanely good for bona fide battles.

I use Poison on bow and sword.
Adds another perspective.
