You don't need to use a bow and arrow to knock down nests.

You can just throw a rock. Finally no more wasting time trying to find the arrow i shot that may or may not be broken.

Rocks can be hard to aim though. I just use crude arrows, don't care if they get lost every bandit you find with a bow has a stack of 25-30 of them

Well, the "tutorial" in regards to throwing stones is super forgetable

It was only like 70 hours into the game that I was like - hrmmmm, what would I give for a distraction mechanic :D - no ♥♥♥♥ - I totally forgot

I've used rocks for distractions plenty of times, it just never struck me to use them on a nest.

Only reason I figured it out was I had no money for a bow so I just tried throwing a rock, and it worked.

I simply forgot about that mechanic :D

I didn't care much about nests though since there's just too many of them. Like every 5 seconds of horseriding there's a nest.... and what do I get? ..... Eggs

Dunno what Warhorse was thinking but the amount of nests + the reward is a whole lot of bollocks really.

I’ve never been able to successfully use a rock. The angle at which you can throw a rock is severely limited compared to aiming a crossbow.

While it's true that you can't throw a rock directly up, it shouldn't be an issue unless the nest is quite high. And even then, rocks are thrown with such force and distance that you should be able to get the angle right if you back away far enough.
