Is Henry an actual knight social class wise?

Im a bit new to the series overall and from what I gather he was once the son of a Blacksmith, so sort of middle/working class rather than a peasant persay, did he earn the the position of knighthood through merit?

As of now, he hasn't been knighted yet.
But maybe during the course of the game, who knows.

He is a commoner. 90% of men were commoner.

Where I'm at in the story, and I assume it remains this way, Henry is the squire of Sir Hans Capon.

He referred to himself as an 'escort' early on but recently been using 'squire' instead, probably sounds more formal from his perspective.

He is also the son of a nobleman, so he has noble blood.

I'd say Henry is on the path to becoming a knight, but is currently just a commoner with claims to nobility. His upbringing as a blacksmith would have definitely made him 'middle class' instead of a peasant farmer.

He's a high-born bastard. That means he can be knighted and recognised as full class noble, it happened quite frequently, Such bastard was starting his own house then. What was extremely rare - was recognising an illegitimate son as a rightful one by real father. So Henry got really big chances to become "Sir Henry of Skalitz", but he's got very little, close to zero chances to become "Sir Henry Kobyla of Skalitz".

Even if he was a bastard son, he still can absolutely claim nobility, theres many instances of Kings being born as bastard sons and still becoming rulers.

he's a bastard and his father didn't legitimize him, so he wouldn't inherit his stuff by default, but as the bastard of a noble he might still be able to become a knight. knights aren't high nobility where dynastic politics play a major role. their main job is to be good at killing people and leading troops at war and maybe running a small estate during peacetime if they even have lands of their own.

Yeah but in this instance his blood father has taken him back under his wing, I imagine the bastard title is a little flimsy here

Most of it was actually them just being bureaucrats and collecting taxes funnily enough.

Most frequently such bastards ended up as priests, clergy was full of them - from popes down to regular provosts. Another option was knighthood, nobility and founding own house. They could also use their connections and become influential merchants or start working for Fuggers.
