Game empty as hell after the long linear section?
When you start doing the devil's quest line and you're in a separate region from the rest of the game (God it's been hours and hours since I've been able to just play the game freely and not stuck in a linear main quest) is it just me or is it a ghost town? Is it because of the war? most of the villages are like completely abandoned, there's only one person I've found in Old Kutna and he has no animations or lines or anything, just stands there. Most of the buildings in this part of the game aren't even enter able. It's just starting to worry me how fast this game has fizzled out for me. After the initial few hours of actually getting to play the game I've basically been stuck in these awful linear sections that are basically repeats (get captured lose your stuff get it back over and over).

Not to mention, I want to work on blacksmithing, I have all of these mats and I can't go learn recipes because I'm stuck to this region. I have all these herbs I gathered that all decayed during that long ass section too. I had to throw away tons of armor as well after you get injured and your carrying capacity is way down.

Did they make these long linear sections to hide how empty the game actually is or what?

I'm pretty sure there's more than one person in Old Kutna. There's not much going on in that town as there is in other towns, though. If there really is only one person, there might be something wrong with your game.

There are plenty of herbs in this region, but if you want those, you can at least dry them out. You didn't have to throw your armor away, you could have just slow walked the whole way like I did. Although if you didn't want to, that's fine too, you'll have plenty of opportunity to get new gear.

Yeah slow walking the whole way would be doable if you didnt' have to fight multiple battles and sneak around multiple castles while also injured

When I did it, I had quite a few Savior Schnapps on me. Admittedly, it took a long time and I had to use a few of them, but if you really want to keep your things, you can.

Haven't made it to the second map yet. Looking forward to it. I want access to the libraries and gardens there so I can build up my scholar skills and have a more consistent herb resource.
As for those "empty as hell" landscapes, yeah, war is hell. Scorched earth is common for miles to hundreds of miles.
And why would you want to enter a burned out, broken down structure? Its unsafe. Don't be mad at the game. Be mad a Sigismund.
What do you mean "mats". Is that something I'll find later?
Why can't you learn recipes? You don't need a smithy's or an alchemy station to learn them...only to make them.

Cool I just got kidnapped by the devil on one of the quests and lost all my ♥♥♥♥ and have an objective to get my items back for what, the 3rd or 4th time in this game?

I think the point where the game becomes a interactive movie was where they decided to rush it out for release. Most of the development time spent on the first map.

Be glad you can get them back. In the real 1400s you'd be dead already, laying in a ditch and all your possesions stashed under a rock waiting for the bandit to return. But he never will because someone saw that beautiful sword he had stolen from you and killed him in his sleep to get it.
Now your lovely loot is hidden where it will remain for all eternity.
I personally keep a significant portion of my stuff stashed in my chest that somehow is never broken into in this game where I'm always breaking into chests.
If this was Diablo you'd have to travel to your dead body to recover your stuff every time you died...wading through the vast, empty wastelands to get to the same place that killed a better equipped you only moments before...hoping to recover all of your loot and outfit it before you die again. ;)

It takes longer to make a movie than to add a bit more game play to an existing game engine.
