Thoughts on Ending (Spoilers)
In the ending I got ('good'), which I imagine is the most common, there's no "happily ever after", and I think I like it better this way. It fits with how the first game ended, at least, in spirit.

1. Henry isn't knighted.

2. Henry doesn't get Rosa, or Theresa, he's left with Katherine, if he chooses, who's near twice his age.

3. Henry doesn't even get to go home; he's charged with ensuring Hans attends his wedding, sealing an alliance, and fulfilling a promise Hanush made.

4. In some cases, dialogue dependent, Henry doesn't even get to keep his sword.

5. All the silver is lost so unless the player made bank, Henry's still broke.

6. King Wenceslas is still imprisoned, and Sigismund's allies still hold Kuttenberg.

The worst part is historically Radzig and Hans die at the beginning of the Hussite wars, possibly due to Hussites or their allies. So a middle-aged Henry would most likely be fighting Jan Zizka as revenge, and on the side of Sigismund, Holy Roman Emperor.

Initially, due to the first game's beginning narrator being an older Henry, I had hoped the end of the 2nd game would be Henry completing the tale in a book as an old man- or reciting the story to his grand-children. But alas, WH had other, open-ended ideas, and I guess I'm fine with it.

I hope there's closure in some form of DLC or KCD3. Even if everyone we love in these games ends up dead.
well spoken Galactic, to be honest I really thought they were going to kill Henry in this one.
Personally I prefer when it possible to get a happy ending if one is good/resourceful enough.

Some people may like downer or bittersweet endings...or even ones where the MC is pretty much a buttmonkey who is fate's chew toy but I think even more want their efforts to be actually rewarded with something more satisfying.

Like...why not let Henry just commit a crime several times and let him end up executed for it instead of bothering to finish the game proper?

I hope that future updates and/or DLCs will make happier endings available.

The thought crossed my mind a couple times during the game. I would expect him to if there is a form of continuation in the future. And I think I'd be okay with it if it was done eloquently. I don't want to see another Joel though.

I think some people want a bit too much for this game to be the gaming equivalent of ASOIAF...

Golly, I hope not. A good story has to end at some point. You don't want your audience dying of old age before it ends. But if you've beaten this game, you can't really ignore the fact that the story doesn't really feel finished. They could make one more iteration or pull and Elden Ring and make a DLC as big as the game itself. I dunno, guess we'll just have to wait and see.

Or like Witcher 3's Blood & Wine which finally gave Geralt that happy ending, if one was inclined to choose that.
