Is in point of his stats the best armor in KcD 2.
I'm constantly changing them so. It depends.
You'll want as many plated and mailed elements as you can still function in and you have to wear a form of padded gambeson underneath, mail is great for slashes and pretty good for stopping thrusts, the padding's not great against slashes but it's your primary defence against blunt hits until you can find or afford plate harness which is pretty good against everything.
You'll find that even plate is fairly thin in places especially at the arms and knees, real historical plate can be barely 1 cm thick so what it's mostly doing is deflecting anything that hits it.
So be wary of polearms and hammers and stuff and I'd recommend you have a shield handy, because some bodkin so piercing arrows from the more powerful bows and the crossbows that take a goats foot lever or a windlass so they take awhile to load CAN hurt you through even the best of it. Obviously the firearm is a problem too, duck behind someone or take cover.
And you'll definitely need a helmet, some people prefer kettle hats so nothing gets in your way when you're looking around and you can talk and breath normally, but for proper protection I'd recommend a bascinet with a visor, you can pop it down when you're up close and personal so need to protect your face more than see everything.
I also tend to put a padded gambeson and either a brigandine or a mail hauberk so long shirt that's pretty noisy under an overcoat when I'm dressing to impress, so in game as much charisma as you can get with a longsword or something so you can talk people down but defend yourself pretty well.
And my last one's my quiet as possible, fit in with the common man look which is usually just a tunic and hose with a decent coat and a small sword and a bow when I'm hunting / poaching :P
Hope that helps
