GPU overheats
my game started crashing more often, so i checked hwinfo and found out that my gpu is reaching its maximum temp at 107°C. in no other games has this ever happened and my question is: why is it happening and how do i prevent it? I cleaned my pc recently so thats not a solution.

huh, my temps when playing KCD II behave just as in other games, have hwmonitor running most of the time and nothing out of the ordinary.

Try enabling vsync

limiting the fps gives your gpu less to do

What specs?
So. When you cleaned your PC. Did you remove the CPU fan? If you did you must apply new thermal paste otherwise the cooling doesn't work as it should.
I feel lucy, I have min specs, using my old but true 1060. 32 gigs ddr4 on an older i5. I have not had a single crash or a prob. with over heating. Unfortunately I have to play on min settings but I am having zero issues.

It sux I can not run it higher because watching vids I see how beautiful the game is. Something must be off on your end because if my old pc can run this smooth you should prob. be able to do it.
One prob I do have is in Kuttenburg. If I run through the streets to fast the buildings take a few seconds to load in. But thats my issue not the games.

Check your fans, maybe lower the graphics and see if that helps.

adjust your fan curve in your nvidia or amd software so the fans are running at 100% at 100C. It will be noisier but will likely fix the problem. You can also cap the framerate at a lower amount and lower the graphics settings so the game is less stressful on the gpu.

Buy a new computer.

Something I observed since the patch:
I used the ingame frame limiter but since the patch it doesn't seem to be working correctly and makes the game act funky.
Using the frame limiter via driver fixed the issue entirely again.

vsync and ingame fps limiter doesn't work in kcd2. set your stuff in gpu drivers not in game.

There are places, conversations and cut scenes that stress the gpu more than others. I don't even focus on the GPU temp, but rather, the HOT Spot temps which are always about 15 degrees Celsius higher compared to the GPU temps. I would suggest you first, have the most updated driver, but use DDU to uninstall/remove remnants from previous driver installations. Next, use NVCleanstall to install just the driver from NVIDIA package. Next, adjust the fan curve as suggested above. You'll want to create a custom one to match the GPU temp increase, up to a maximum fan speed. What GPU do you have? How many fans does it have? Are all the fans spinning? And lastly, play around with graphic settings and turn down those that are heavy on the GPU itself. Most of what I said is not necessary, just good practice when dealing with NVIDIA drivers.

If you're doing the DDU driver uninstall, do it in safe mode.
after resetting my whole pc and changing to windows 11 the same freeze keeps happening. to be exactly it happens alway in kuttenberg where the duel dude is located. either while the dialoge starts or after a duel while the noble complains about the duelling. i have an ryzen 9 5900x and the radeon rx 7900xt. no problems until now and i cant progress the game anymore

Have you tried limiting your framerate yet?
Also, cool thing you update us but no word if your temps improved.
the thing is, the temp just reached 107°C one time, the rest of the crashes were at normal temps, really strange. some people on the internet suggested the psu is faulty but why should it just stopped working properly only on this game. at the end i have to wait for patches because nothing seems to work
