Point of the axe?
You have swords for cutting piercing, same for halberds with more range.

then you have maxes and blunt for anti armor.

and then theres the axe? What purpose does it serve? The slashing dmg aint great, 0 piercing, and the blunt is mediocre as well.

So Why would I use an axe over a mace or sword? Or halberd even.

Axes are for those who can´t decide and want a little bit of everything.

Versatility. Plus breaks shields and gives bleed.
Just personal preference.

In Kcd 1 they did piercing damaged, no more in Kcd 2.
They give better blunt than hunting sword and they still make people bleed. The unique feature Is the bonus against shields.

For flavor, but the type of flavor thats objectively worse than swords. They kinda shafted everything t hat wasn't swords in this game for no reason

They're the jack of all trades (slashing+blunt), the reforged axe from the story at tier 4 quality is one of the best pre-wedding weapons you can get.

Not nearly so good as you are thinking. ;-)
Executioners Axe (3rd best Axe in entire Game) is much better as the Adorned Axe and blueprint for it can you get easily direct after start in north between Troskowitz and Tachov, without no fight.

One of the only uses for the axe are that you can repair the weapon for free on the grindstone and with a perk, it makes the weapon a bit more deadly than before.

You also need an axe for at least one side quest.
Once you "master" masterstrike, every other melee weapon is pointless, at least in the first game, as every weapon could masterstrike, it was a matter of preference.

You dont need Master Strike to win any fight in KcD2, so it's in every way only a task of personal preference.

Get at least one kill with it then toss it, there is a hidden achievement where U have to kill 1 enemy with every type of weapon. I was not sure if the horse picks and axes were the same so I did it with both. I really see no other reason to carry an axe.
