Food System - A Balancing Act?
This issue is resolved, no need to keep responding with solutions, thank you.

--

I'm really enjoying many aspects of Kingdom Come: Deliverance II so far, but I'm struggling with the food system and wanted to open a discussion about it. I'm finding it's impacting my enjoyment of the game and I'm curious if others feel the same way.

My main issue is the constant struggle to stay fed. It feels like a significant portion of my playtime is spent searching for cooking pots to scavenge food. While I appreciate the realism, the frequency with which I need to eat makes it feel more like a chore than an immersive survival element.

My current options seem limited. Relying on scavenging pots scattered around feels inconsistent. I often find myself running from location to location, hoping to stumble upon something edible. Buying individual vegetables from traders and innkeepers is an option, but it quickly becomes expensive. Plus, the fact that I can seemingly fill up on vegetables, only to be hungry again relatively quickly, makes this a less-than-ideal solution.

What's particularly frustrating is the lack of a "meal" option at inns. It seems odd that I can't simply order a proper meal to fill me up for a longer period. This would be a much more immersive and convenient way to address hunger.

I understand that survival mechanics are a core part of the game, and I'm not against a challenge. However, the current implementation feels unbalanced. It demands so much attention that it detracts from other aspects of the game, like exploration and questing. I find myself constantly preoccupied with my hunger level rather than being able to immerse myself in the story and world.

I'd love to hear other players' experiences. Are you finding the food system to be a good balance of challenge and realism, or are you having similar issues? Are there any strategies or tips you've discovered that make managing hunger less of a burden? Perhaps we can collectively provide constructive feedback to the developers to improve this aspect of the game.

Easy way to deal with it, find a boar or deer hunting spot, kill one, and then go to a drying rack and dry all the meat. You only need to do this maybe once a week or once every other week. There's other hunting spots, but deer and boar give the most meat, Roe are kinda pathetic. Don't bother with wolves or dogs. You can also kill livestock pigs that are on the edges of towns super easily because they don't fight back and are slow as hell so you can whap them with your sword rather then using a good crossbow or something, just make sure no NPC's are watching them or see you butcher it. Dried meat never spoils, so you can just have it on hand forever until it's time to go hunt another animal. Make sure it[s a drying rack, NOT a smoker. Smoked meat spoils, dried meat does not.

Alternatively, training up drinking makes beer give twice as much nutrition as a perk, and alcohol doesn't spoil and there are free wine barrels almost everywhere. However, getting drunk kind of limits just how much you can sustain yourself on alcohol specifically.

Hunting, dry the meat to keep it from perishing

Bandit Hunting : they tend to carry various objects on them, or in their camps that are already dried, or if not can be dried

Find your random wayfarer & shank

edity edit : Said smoke prior, meant dry it

Just always buy dried meat when you see it. I
My inventory is full of meal. I cant eat all before it spoil. I use digestion potion all the time to get that feeling I'm eating normaly.

IMO the food is to much plentifull. The beer perk that double the nutrition value is ridiculous. You can survive only on beer.

honey can be looted without crimestat from bee hives which are in almost every village,
provides 30 nourishment
Never goes bad
trivialises the hunger system and gets removed in hardcore mode in kcd1

Dry the meat from the wolves that attack you. Make a doll potion poison arrows so when you shoot wild game it can't run away only walk then you can just run up and use melee weapon on them. Dry the meat or cook it either way. Food is so easy in this game.
You can even take honey off beehive they give 30 hunger each.

I had quite the contrary experience - it's too easy to get fed. Pots, drinks, potions, meat, bathouse services. Everywhere you go, there's food. I didn't get Hungry excepted in the few quests where the games forces hunger on you. I'm actually planning to take the negative perk that increases your hunger rate in Hardcore mode.

dont know i have more often the problem that i am to full... i didnt even take the asket skill because i hade the same problem in the first one. there are plenty of food pods. you can try meat to make it last forever. you can skill fresh food doesnt spoil so fast. potions also fill your body. i have i dont know 100 dryed wolfmeat in my stash for mud too.
You're kidding right ?
You need to eat less than 40 food value each day, so a pack of 10 dried beef will feed you for one week... and it's worth next to nothing to buy, and it's free to dry
Yeah, I always have too much food. I have to throw a lot of it away because it goes bad, even if most of it is dried. I don't really have to steal or buy food, either. I just find more than enough as it is.

No need to throw away you can feed rot food to the dog

Or just spend a few coins and buy food from an innkeeper. If it hurts too much, spend 5 minutes winning at dice, to earn enough to feed yourself for a couple of weeks.
