Save File Number 500 and slow load times

So i have read posts about the game having an issue once the save counter goes to 499 and then the next one being the limit of 500, people have lost entire playthrough's, i just wanted to know if anyone else has had this issue and if it is still relevant?

The reason i ask is i used a mod that enabled saving by pressing f10, and tbh i probably overused it, i don't save anywhere near that often in other games that let you save freely lol, got into a bit of a habit, hardly ever reloaded but the counter is now at save 417 i also noticed that from about 20 or so saves ago it was now taking ages to load, it used to take a couple of seconds, now the loading bar has long finished but i still wait 30-40 seconds for it to load?

To be honest i should be able to finish the game before hitting 500 as i removed the mod and started doing alchemy, which i found a bit boring previously, i wanted action, not inaction, but i have a decent supply of them now, 30 or so strong ones, but i'm concerned i might hit the 500 save file number at some point, i haven't even gone to the wedding yet, although i have done absolutely everything i can in the region and that is literally what i am about to do now, decided to go with the miller and the fake posh doris.

Any information would be appreciated

I had the same problem after 200 saves and I discovered by copying my last save to another game to test different choice lines, that on game 2 it loaded faster. So by copying your last save to a new game it should potentially fix the problem.

Ahhh ok, do you mean i need to start a new game slot and then take my current save and copy it over to slot 2 and if i load from there the next save will be 2?

atm on 819 and for now its still fine ofc it could be a bit slower than normal but nothing to weird i am noticing
