I turned on Hashek and saved the Semines.
I didn't feel great about it at first, because I did want to hold Olda accountable for his treachery.
But as the story progressed further, I felt better and better about my decision.

Yes, that is the best choice if you have already arrived to Semine with Hashek (and overall probably the second-best to lying and thus preventing Hashek from ever comming to Semine for Olda). However, you need to turn on Hashek immediately - letting his soldiers slaughter everyone and then kill them and Hashek to save only Olda and old Semine is probably the worst possible way to handle this.

I did the "skip Samine" thing last play through, this play through I'm doing a more aggressive Henry.

Though I think I'll save the Samine family, they're all likable enough and wiping them all out is a little excessive (that scene is brutal).

Yeah I did turn on him straight away before any Semines were killed.

At the time the, option to lie and prevent the dilemma entirely didn't make much sense, as we had reason to believe Olda was indeed a traitor/bandit, and responsible for attacking us at the start of the game. Henry is still unaware that the 'bandits' are pro-Wenceslas guerrillas.

In hindsight, yes it makes sense to lie for them, but it's a bit "meta".
