Hate the dogs and wolves
I live in fear of meeting the dogs and wolves in this game they end my game real quick dont have a chance to get away from them or kill them. They dont seem easy to kill. I've had a dog take 2 or 3 hits from a hunting sword and still limp way.

Never attack a wolf or a dog first. Wait for them to attack you, then fend off the attacking wolf and then immediatly attack the wolf/dog. With short swords you mostly can hit it one time. With longsword you can hit them 2 times. Repeat it.

They made it so much better compared to kcd1 with fighting dogs. And honestly not much difference between dog and wolf.

In the first game, dogs would bite you and not let go. So you had to punch it and basically deplete all your stamina just to get free. Now just block and attack. Works everytime.

they are so easy to defeat. and hardly do any damage.

but if you really struggle. get a polearm.
I find polearms are great for fighting dogs. They have enough reach to smack them without missing.

Ah I might try a polearm then. I still have no armour and no better sword yet despite playing the game for 20 or so hrs lol. So I hate these bloody packs.

I'm doing a vegan run, so I'm only punching them and using doggo. Not seeing how it could be difficult in comparison to fighting a human - just wait for the counter, and as long as you don't run out of energy, then they'll barely scratch you.

once you get better armor, weaponry and stats they become easier. they exist to challenge the player's early-game exploration, but you'll be able to overcome it like any other challenge by progressing Henry's equipment and perks.

Yeah Ive just found a new stash so I will hopefully get better stuff out of that, didn't have time to look I was too busy running way from the wolves lol.

The aesop potion will also make them reluctant to attack, or just knock back any of the other dozen potions that make fights easier.

Stop trolling there are bandit camps, cuman camps as well as random events on the road with bandits. It´s not about killing dogs or wolves. They are just a minor nuisance.

I haven't messed around with a polearm but I haven't had an issue with dogs/wolves since I swapped to a longsword.

Anything that gives you reach should make things easier.

polearms are really good in general. good reach and damage, offset by them having to be maintained often.
Against hounds they tend to oneshot and can reach them easily.

Just wait until the green shield shows up and hit block and then immediately attack.
Gets them every time.
I would also say that poison use is particularly useful against our four legged foes.

Whether doll maker, or lullaby, the effect of not being able to run, severely limits their combat potential. They circle much slower and are more easily countered.
