6 GB of download? Wow, it's 1 minute, maybe 2 with slower broadband. How will I survive this...

That problem will exist in any game that uses archived files. The point is, that unreal engine by default compiles projects into one large archive, and so devs tend to not bother taking the extra step to do multiple.
and so does cryengine, this is what I'm saying, the devs didn't modify ♥♥♥♥, they just packed their files better, the problem still exists with cryengine as it does with UE.
You can literally open the game files and prove yourself wrong. And again, KCD1 and 2 uses a highly modified version of the engine.

wow and now were just going in circles. Reading is hard I know. You can open the game files and see they still use Paks, it's still the same problem, you still need to download 2gb files to update a 1mb file.

I was just thinking the same thing about you. a .pak is just an archive format. Open the folders. Use your eyeballs. There's a huge differnece between one giant mega 100 gig .pak file and 50 small .pak files ranging from 1-5 gb's each. Try opening a cryengine pak file in the unreal engine editor and let me know how that goes for you.

OP's post wasn't sarcasm, they were making a jab at all of those big AAA games where you have to download a 100 gigs for one tiny hotfix.

yes, thanks for confirming what I've been trying to point out to you for the last 5 replies. They did not modify anything, they are literally just packing their files efficiently. Cryengine has the exact same problem as UE does with paks, cryengine paks will not open in UE5 because they are different file types, which is irrelevant. Yes downloading 1-2gb files is better than 100+gb files, but its STILL THE SAME PROBLEM, which is the point I was making. CIG has a single 120gb PAK file for star citizen, and it literally only downloads the files it needs as they ACTUALLY modified cryengine for this purpose.

Patch notes here:
https://kingdomcomerpg.com/en/news/hotfix-1-1-2
Just a few minor issues, none of the big bugs fixed yet. Though I guess the crashes would be pretty big for those that were experiencing them. This game has only crashed for me on occasional save game load like 1/20 times and thats about it.

Thats what I have been saying the entire time, you've just not been able to comprehend it for whatever reason. Also again, KCD1 and 2 is using a heavily modified engine.
