Struggling to understand the hype
So 12 hours in, I’m at a point enemies don’t do much damage to me and iv got the combat down. But my immersion is broken when I enter combat, watching the npcs arms snap toggling between what side they want to attack from, sluggish and slow finishers and during battles watching bots get hit in the back, and not even worry, cause there hard locked onto the man in-front. Quests at this point not engaging enough cause all it is , is get medicine for this person, kill these bandits. Pick some herbs. Im also skipping dialogue so much cause I can’t stand how goofy Henry looks and sounds….and now I don’t even know why I wrote this thread…

"I'm skipping diolague so much"

That's your problem. The truth is the people are tired of all these games as a service releases. All these wanna be destiny, call of duty shooters or overwatch clones. The infinite void that is the eastern gatcha waifu farm. The fact that every sword and shield game has to be a dark souls game but with a twist.

What they long for is a "triple a" game that reminds them of their pc gaming childhood. A good old fashioned janky yet immersive Sim. It's the same reason BG3 saw so much success. A game that held true to it's roots, and brought us back to a time where you could lose yourself within a game. Without feeling like you're being punished for not logging in.

I mean let's just be honest, gaming is full of Game Addicts.

They just need a new fix.

Doesn't have to be "GOOD" just has to get them high a little.

It's got some good stuff in it, but ultimately I think they focused too much on maintaining the realism, and since the it's difficult for them to provide true challenges, like say a Dark Souls type game, they have to provide challenges and difficulty with tedious work, locking things behind gates, etc.

HOW ARE YOU SKIPPING DIALOG IT WON"T LET ME DRIVING ME CRAZY.

Thing is I loved baldurs gate 3, it’s just this I’m struggling to enjoy as much as everyone else…look maybe another 10 hours more and I’ll enjoy it more….

Also totally agree on goofy AF Henry. He's like what a 10 year old boy would imagine a Man would look and talk like. It honestly makes me a little concerned for the Devs.

Something to keep in mind is that bg3 is kinda high fantasy, where as KCD2 is literally just a medieval peasant simulator. You being a peasant, while also being forced into the politics of the lords. If you can not lose yourself within this highly accurate peasant simulator chances are you are not familiar with the games that these lords would play with the people of that time period. You have no frame of reference as to why it's so extravagant that some guy's bastard son is standing next to some snot nosed prick. That's what makes it so interesting. Being in the shoes of the absolute dog water lower class why still having to somewhat successfully navigate the game of thrones nonsense that is the nobles lifestyle. A lifestyle that you or your main character that you are controlling will never live, but must live by because your nobility demanded it.

That was well said!
I second. if you skip dialect in games this one is not for you. The writing and voice acting in this game are not as good as boulders gate, But its a rare offline RPG in a sea of online service games. What appeals to me the most is that you come from nothing and evolve in to unstoppable Juggernaut. Service game usually do not let you break the game like that since other players exist and you can not be the only Hero.

You know what's even better than that... becoming an unstoppable juggernaut in real life.

Once you do, you won't care about it in games anymore.
It sounds like the game just isn't for you which is fine. I'm loving it and so are a lot of other people. It's not for everyone.

You mean looking and talking like an actual man that voices and does the mo-cap for him? Don't let Tom know what you think about him. It's rather insulting.
There's a lot of extreme opinion here.

The OP has a point It is not polished fully. He's right when you attack from behind there is like a delay before it even registers. This doesn't break the game for me but then again not a lot of things break the game for me. Either like the core mechanics or I don't... or I change it (mods).

I'll admit immersion is not even a word I would use to describe what I look for in a video game. I started seeing that crop up about 5 years ago and now it's used all the time... I've never liked a game so much that I forgot that I was playing a video game.

All I can say is the game has its flaws but it's still fun at its core. If it's not fun yeah put it down and wait for a patch or mod the game to your personal taste if they are out now or later.

All this condemning people or other IPs is weird. Do you guys only ever play one type of game? I play a myriad of different genres including some of the ones mentioned as an insult. It's just weird.
