Best sword? Atamans sabre or broadsword?
I read the sabre was the best early game sword, but the broadsword I already have has slightly better stats and much lower reqs? Seems better to me. Am I missing something?

The short sword you learn schematics in a sidequest on Kutenberg map is the best sword.
Until bugfixed Radzig upgraded sword, that is, but I wait for the patch.

So grow up and play this what you like to play...

Saber is faster than broadsword. Game doesn't tell you how fast the weapon is. Or what reach it has.

The more skilled you become the more you gonna like fast weapons and light armor combat.

Didn't yet reach Kuttenberg map, but just forged a Martin level "Basilard" shortsword, and its specs are real good, around 140 stab/130 slash
My previous T3 longsword was really below that, less than 120 in both, plus it was 2 handed

I have just forged an Atamans Sabre and killed a bunch of guys with it and I have to say it´s pretty decent. I like it.

It might not have the highest stats of all swords but that´s not the most important thing anyway. I´d always prefer a faster weapon over ones with the highest damage numbers and this sabre is pretty damn fast and it looks great too.

Stats are stab 129/slash 161/blunt 40 (Henry Quality)

You can find the recipe for this sword in the little fortress at the vineyard north of Kuttenberg.

if your go short vs long sabre is a solid choice. It's animations seem(subjective, I haven't actually tested this) to go off faster which give it utility beyond pure stats.

You can get the recipe for the Noble's Sword in Trosky (stealing/purchasing), or very early in Kuttenburg at an abandoned forge. When it is Tier 4, it has 150 slash/142 stab/22 blunt. It is the best sword until a crafted Knight Sword far as I know, but you have to craft them with the perk. It's pretty cheap to get the materials too. Most blacksmiths have what you will need.
