Melee Combat System based on Quick Time Events
At least you can just shoot people with range weapons so you dont have to deal with this nonesense :)

The parry riposte QTE chain is a beginner trap. Just parry and wait for openings to attack with feints (hold attack, change direction, then release), only riposte when they're low on health because then they'll finally have low stamina and stop blocking the ripostes.

Im aware of this thx. I dont have problems winning the fights, it is just that it feels cheap and boring. It feels like a mini quick time event game with very restrictive movements and input delays. You can check this yourself, as soon as you get close enough to an enemy, you kinda stick to him, like a magnet and are trapped in this mini game thingy. Sure you can disengage with a 2 second delay, but the issue persists. As soon as you get close again, you get magnetized. This does not feel natural or fluid at all. The fistfights work better a little for some reason. They follow the same principle, but they feel much more fluid and dynamic for some reason.
I think even Skyrim has a better melee system and that game is how old now? Over 10 years?

Nah, it is even worse. Major step back in my opinion.

I don't mind the Combat but the "aim Assist" is annoying. Ranged Combat great though.

Yeah range and stealth feels good. That is why i wonder they f up the melee part of the game so hard.

ya i actually want to stop playing the game cause the combat is so bad. im not bad at games but even in the early lvls i think im 10 / 11 an i can still only get like 1/2 swings an 1/2 blocks before i have zero stam an the npc just goes cooooommbooooooooooooooo an im dead. its a comeplete waste of time to engage in melee combat

Its a waste of time anyway, not like they drop anything interesting or special. I mostly ignore the open world. Crafting and thievery if where the most fun is in this game in my opinion. My would i engange in a annoying melee combat when i can just 1 shot enemies with bow and poison. Or just backstab them. Much more fun and quicker.

Yeah it is just a much slower combat system based on stamina, makes sense imho though with all the heavy armor sometimes and weapons.

This absolutely, Feints will destroy and even add some perfect dodges into the mix and you will power through most fights. Only the most heavily armoured combatants you might not one shot with a good dodge and fully charged swing.

is not all combat with swords and that quick time events. Other game you have to time it just right to block and that?

It's either that or both combatants are flailing their swords around like wet noodles like Oblivion and Skyrim. I think the main issue most people are having with KCD2 is that the game trains you to play it BAD. The tutorial with Hans makes it seem like it's all about parry and riposte where if all you do is that then you're just going to end up getting hit eventually or your sword will run out of durability.

Don't forget to poison the bolts.

In theory yes. But in theory you are just seeing ones and zeroes on your computer screen. Its how you implement and design things to make it feel like it is not just ones and zeroes. And this games combat system feels like watching one of these fake martial arts videos on youtube where people present static combat moves that would get you killed in a real life combat scenario :)

I guess it comes down to preference but i rather have noodles swinging around. Feels at least more dynamic and fun then this static boredom. In this game, even if you win the encounters it does not feel satisfying for me. It is like dancing with someone, who has 2 left feet. Not a pleasant experience. I miss dynamic, speed and aggression in this system.
