Judgement Day - Losing the king’s silver after keeping it the 1st try???
Ok, this is something weird that I don’t understand how it happened. During my play through I got to Samual and tried to rescue him. Spent hours doing so only for him to refuse to go and just laid down. I left and the horse said leave with Samual but he clearly wouldn’t go even after I offered to carry him, so I left for help. Fast forward to post battle. They say we can use the silver to repair the castle and everyone should be rewarded with the silver, and oh yeah… Samual died! I looked it up then and realized I could have saved him but the game did a poor job at telling me that was even an option. I immediately reloaded the barn save to save him and redo the battle. The exact same way! Then they say we lost all the silver and Samual is alive. I don’t know why that changed the outcome of the silver and it’s kinda BS. Nobody it talking about this and I want to know how to keep the silver I spent hours getting when I know its possible without sacrificing Samual when they are not related. Very odd. Did I miss something during the battle?

I am not sure because I did not finish the game.
But I just rescued Sam so if I don't lose any silver, I'll make sure to write laer.
I had the same experience/ confusion with Samuel at this part. It seemed like a forced- story decision to do a “the lives of the many vs lives of the one…” choice. I didn’t see any way to get him to go with me.

You can carry him to the barn with horses, then if he is on your shoulder you have an option to pick in front of any horse "go solo/go with sam".

I tried stealth approach, but eventually got annoyed with too many reloads so I simply killed guards that were alerted. Wasn't easy.

Okay after rescuing Samuel it seems you get to the fortress one day late. That's why silver gets stolen as per dialogues - either taking care of his wounds was the reason, or Praguers would be entertained with hanging him instead of stealing.

Maybe with DLC we get an option to get that silver back, maybe it's KCD3 material, who knows.

yeh if you take sam with you, you loose the silver, but even if you don't loose the silver it seems like you don't get any of it anyway, unless I missed a conversation or a chest or something.

It's also kind of ridiculous, you know the time pressure, so why would you then take sam all the way with you after getting him out of the camp. You have various allies around or even inns you could pay for a room at, just drop him off after a short ride, leave him healing stuff and coin to pay for more and then continue on loosing afew hours at most.

As I went through the camp I also put henrys bane poison in the cooking pots and killed around 20-30 soldiers that'd certainly be enough to delay their seige too and sow discord.

I really feel like they had a chunk of the story and area 2 done, but then just rushed other parts of it and the story.

You'll get found pretty quick staying at an inn nearby after whatever happens during this quest happens (not that far in myself yet). Even if you pay enough to buy the in keepers silence. You never know who will remember seeing a wounded man with a bunch of armed dangerous looking friends showing up and leaving him behind. One drunken word would be all it'd take. Makes more sense to bring him somewhere you know is safer/more secure

You have to carry him to the horse stable - that's how you actually save him

Gotta knock out/kill quite a few guards along the way to actually do it.

You don't actually have to sneak or fight guards, I find Praguers clothing in a chest on the outskirts of the town, I just strolled around.

I don't want to spoil any other bits, but I can think of several groups nearby that would shelter him who you've worked with and arn't involved in the siege. Not even the ones in the city itself either.

I appreciate the lack of spoilers my friend thank you :)
And in that case (keep in mind I'm simply playing devils advocate) that doesn't necessarily mean those groups/people would be able to resist or be able to get out of a search of their property from the kings men. It's just a risky choice either way. Either you risk his injury getting worse to get him farther away and safer, or you run the risk of him getting found by leaving him somewhere nearby the scene

I think 1 maybe 2 of them would be pretty good at being very hidden and both would be very loyal after doing their related quests. But yeh it would for sure still be a risk.

Second bit spoilerish for the rescue bit, but I guess it is a post about the mission.
But then sam and the game tell you he might not even survive a horse ride too, also suggesting that (I think these were the words) it would take till winter before you could make it back if you took him. Both not true, but I only knew that because I'd seen some bits accidentally before hand

Losing the silver seems to be a consequence of taking the time to rescue Samuel.

I left without him because he's an idiot for sneaking off without me. The lives of everyone in Suchdol outweigh his. We still had the silver but I got kind of a 'bad ending' for leaving him.
So I reloaded and rescued him, and sure enough, no silver.

did you kill or spare brabant?
I spared him, he ran out and started shouting so I heel turned and cut him down before he alerted the other half of the camp and then the parents gave me a hard time about it which seemed a bit bull****, like I gave him every chance and they think maybe I'm lost to revenge -_-

Stealth killed him from behind without speaking to him. I'd already heard more than enough of his rubbish.
I spoke at length to Von Aulitz though.

aha yeh I really wanted to just drop down and slice him in half but I was trying to be merciful. I'd just talked with Aulitz too and after that and some of his earlier bits decided he was just doing what he thought was best for his people and just on the other side of the war to us, like he kinda said, kind of sad he died really since he was a good character to fight against with depth. I hope they do some work with Erick because he seems too much of a 1 dimensional moustache twirling teen angst rage ball to a satisfying enemy if he becomes the centre of a dlc.
