Dont forget to take a break
As much as I was enjoying this game I was beginning to get burnt out due to spending most of my free time playing this. To the point I was only finding reasons to not like it so I decided to take a break for 4 days.

When I came back I went straight back to enjoying and appreciating what a great game this is.

gaming burnout can happen if you play any game too much

It's true. I am now forcing myself to take time away from the game. I was literally stuck in my chair for full days and it was not good for me.
The game is a bit of a danger when it comes to addiction and it's far to easy to loose great chunks of time playing it.
We need a in-game alarm clock to tell us to take a break.
Taking a break now would be counter productive as I'm at the last main quest (finished all side quests that I could).

However I did take 1 day break twice in the meantime. ;)

Probably gonna do the same, I've already matched the hours I put into kcd 1 and beat this game within the first 2 weeks (kcd 1 took months for me) the burnout/addiction is real.
Gaming these days can feel like a chore especially if we devote many hours to it. I'm starting to understand less is more the less time im gaming the more fun I have when I do take time to play. I was skipping dialogue because I just couldnt be bothered to listen to what they had to say. By taking a break I find myself slowing down and smelling the roses as they say.
I have to add this - I did not explore every single point of interest that exist on the map.
I have left it for some future chill replay.
But doing these spots might cause an additional exhaustion.

Youre 100% right I like to check off map markers as they come into my vicinity which can ruin the pacing. Now i like to only do them if they genuinely catch my interest for some reason.

If you have a reasonable " normal " life (work, family, friends, chores in your household), then you don't end up sitting numerous full days in front of a video game.

If its your vacation or spare time, then whatever? Its just a hobby.

Now that being said, I remember WoW having an alarm clock.

It was called 'your bladder'.
