How do I arrest Matthew the Collector?

So, I let Matthew go initially, then decided I was gonna finish the quest. I wanted to do it clean, so knocked him out and took his weapons away. I carried him all the way to the Bailiff and dropped him there, but once he woke up, he just started running around fistfighting people and I don't know how to turn him in alive.

wasnt the quest to kill him?

i killed him and was able to complete the quest just fine

If you don’t kill him, he can become a master trainer and a helpful NPC. So try to just knock him out and de-arm him, so you can later meet him on the road and have a conversation.

I think not worth the trouble since like me I find him with high skill for the fight style I want .
