no encumbrance issues, no stolen goods, no fencing stole items....buy stuff you need and rob back the coins
Reputation as mentioned previously is important. When selling a batch of lower value items I generally dont haggle, this seems to give a reputation bonus instead of constantly pushing people for a higher price. When I have a huge pile to sell, ill haggle and get a considerable bonus out of it. If I run the trader out of money however, I either haggle to their capability or let it go over as a tip and they generally are very happy about that, which pays off later with better prices overall down the road. ( i do this when I really just want my weight completely offloaded to move on to a quest or something)
I've learned not to "skyrim" this game, I don't steal everything I see, and over-encumbered status can be very punishing to have if you are mid story mission. Early on however, being over-encumbered gives xp to strength and I think vitality as well rather rapidly. I had the greed get the better of me early in the game, so was willing to walk a large amount of goods to sell it and was surprised how much my core skills leveled up despite the time it took to foot it all to town.
Also some things are surprising in their weight to value:
-Couters and other low-end metal arm armour sell for almost nothing and weigh a lot. I've stopped bothering with them. It's like 1.5 groschen for about 2-3 weight.
-boots that arent better than what im wearing.
-any 1.0 weighted booze except that I always keep some just in case I need to offer a person a drink in a dialogue (this happens more than I anticipated)
-any pants that dont provide a decent armour value
In short i've kept my kills relatively clothed and only take their weapons, helmets, and any good armour off of them. Gambesons are typically worth taking to sell or wear.
Also get on sharpening weapons before selling them to repair them to as high as you can without using a repair kit.
Get the low level perk that increases sell value of high durability stuff by 10% , and the perk that allows you to barter better and steal some fancy guy clothes (To wear while you're selling , you're looking for high charisma stats) . Always sell your stuff while freshly bathed . Wear rich guy rings and broaches too.
Steal materials , use those materials to craft axes and swords n stuff . Sell those.
This is the easiest and most efficient way to steal things, but I found a lot of vendors in Kuttenberg don't keep their money in their goods chests. You can't pickpocket during the day due to guards.
i haven't got to kuttenberg yet, what with so many side quests, encounters and bandit camps ...nearly got to the wedding and i'm already swimming in money just from robbing coins
however, stealing no longer makes sense at the end of map 1 and even more so in map 2, where you can find armor parts worth up to 5000 from enemies, the problem is getting rid of it from that point on, as the merchants have very little money.
