I was more interested in the second immediatly cause i only hear good things about it.
How much better is it compared to the first one?
Like gameplaywise, were there significant improvements or does it play similar?
Is KCD2 its own story? It is a direct continuation of KCD1.
The time difference between KCD1 ending and KCD2 beginning is couple of days at best. But the sequel does a very good job of letting you know what happens in KCD1.
Do I still recommend the first game? Yes.
Just some warning: The first game's performance is worse than second game. And the first game has many bugs.
But now the first game basically goes for 90% discount. So you don't really lose out much regardless if you like it or not.
Just noticed that its on sale, may as well start with that one then :P
The first game is brilliant anyway so that's a good decision and it's not even very buggy really, it was bad when it was released but they did a great job with patches and fixed most of them.
I really recommend all the DLC as well.
Is it recommended that you do? Yes.
KCD1 is a great game in it's own right and it regularly goes on sale for dirt cheap. The easiest way of describing it would be that KCD is a story in two halves; while you can jump in and get a recap in part 2 you won't have the same connection to the story and characters. Plus there's a lot of little details and references you'll only understand if you played the first game.
It's also more of the same for the most part. Yes 2 is more polished with more content but if you don't like 1 then there's a good chance you won't like 2 either. You might as well try 1 which is much cheaper rather than investing in a full price 2 if you're unsure about it.
It's a niche RPG series. Predicting whether someone will like it or not is basically as likely as is flipping a coin imo.
