Master strikes are too OP
You don’t need to memorize combos or think about combat tactics because master strikes are way too easy to pull off. As a result, tournaments feel completely uninteresting, duels are way too easy, and they lack any sense of excitement or challenge. You can literally sip tea with one hand while casually landing a couple of master strikes with the other to win a duel without breaking a sweat. It’s just plain lame.

Most people can't even do combos in practice. Search the forum using "Tomcat".
Honestly it was the same with KCD1. Instead of sword in kcd1, it was Mace in kcd1.

People want 100% or at least high success rate with doing combo. I think in terms of challenge in kcd as a series, it was always player's own restriction on the game.

My priority is more fun than challenge.
I had a lot of fun with hardcore all negative perks in kcd1. So I am hoping to get similar experience in kcd2.

You can just... not use it.
Even normal strikes are. Major re balance needed.

That is actually difficult to do. After a perfect block, your weapon and the enemies weapon end up at opposite position. Meaning if you both decide to attack, boom master strike. An honest mistake.
Op would have to straight up quit using sword if they don't wanna use master strike.

If only NPCs could do a faint attack.

I guess most people are button mashing ahh players
Just wait for hardcore mode, if they really get rid of the directional attack reticle thing. Forum will be flooded with people crying about that too.

I like how the masterstrike is done, mainly because it allows you to avoid it yourself. You want to attack someone with a sword, just don't attack in the opposite direction.
It encourages you to attack, not just defend and hope for a lucky hit

Nah they are fine - they were super BS in KCD1 but now they make sense at least sense

They are less important, bladly

there's a few fights in the story that you aren't meant to win, you have to accept that - once you accept it, the system is somewhat fine - still don't get how every farmer opponent has unlimited stamina though, really grinds my gears

A mod to remove them, but there are also tons of other mods that can make combat harder.
Remove Masterstrikes

Maybe on controller, but not with mouse. If the opponent changes his direction of attack at the last moment, going for a master strike can be dangerous. Against multiple opponents master strike is rarely useful. The damage is also seldom decisive.
I only play zero death runs and find that prefect block is a more reliable way to assure survival.
So, no, master strike is not OP.

I don’t use master strikes, especially when fighting multiple opponents, perfect dodge works better for me.
When you have high enough, almost maxed skills, everything may look “OP”.

Exactly. That's why we have as many threads complaining how combat is too difficult as those complaining it's too easy. "Everything is easy once you know how to do it" is a truism in most games.

just use perfect dodge then hit or combo if you got bored of masterstrike, i dont know why you come here to complain for this. I just used it the first run, now i dont use it anymore and the combat is more fun
