blacksmith apron missing

I'm on my 2nd playthrough. I've done the intro to smithing mission twice, which I think is where you are supposed to get the blacksmith apron (I don't recall exactly how I got it on my first playthrough, but I had it the entire game).

More detail: I hung around the starter town for a few days grinding alchemy, then finally wandered up to the town where you meet the blacksmith and he runs you through the 'how to' on blacksmithing and provides a room/chest. After the first run through of the mission, there was no apron in the chest in my room, or the chest where he provided the starter mats.

I went back to him and bought the mats to make another hunting sword and did the mission again. Still no apron in either chest.

Bug? Ideas? Do I just have to buy it now?

The apron isn't in your chest, it's sitting on a box beside your bed where you can pick it up. I believe there's also a pair of leather gloves in the corner which also give a +1 or +2 to your crafting skill

I know the feeling, don't worry lol. Make sure you grab the armorer kit and blacksmithing kit too.

keep a close eye out. they like to hide valuables among what appear to be random junk. there are two gold cups right behind the chest where you steal sigismunds sausage in Kuttenberg, for example.
