Is the homosexual content clearly marked or skippable now or is it still a 'once you hit it your stuck watching gay porn'? (That quote is from an article when the game first came out which I thought was hyperbole until I did my research and yup.....) I loved the first game and wanted to support the sequel but they made some weird political choices with this release and so I've been waiting and waiting on it but now that common sense is kind of coming back to the world I was wondering if maybe there had been a game update. I saw nexus is still removing any mods they don't agree with (kind of defeating the whole point of modding imo but hey its their site I guess) but not sure how the devs of the game have responded to the criticism.

Unrelated but does this version of the game have the town you can build? That was really fun in the first game

I was concerned too but I have played it twice now and though you have to pay attention during the main story conversations with Hans (and a few others) if you stay away from the HEART speech symbol, you will not trigger any of the nudity/adult content. Aside from profanity (which for me was a bit gratuitous) and violence that is. Hope that helps.

Ah okay, that does help a lot. The stuff I saw made it sound like it would be a total surprise but iirc the first game used the heart symbols to warn you of romantic lines as well. Is there an in game setting to adjust profanity at all or would you class this as a for sure adults only game?

No there is not any " town building " yet in the game. With future expansions to come , it is unknown.

Pretty much any cut scene associated with the main story. Maybe not all of them, but I can't recall being able to skip most of them. I could be wrong of course, wouldn't be the first time and it for sure won't be the last, but it doesn't change the fact that there are ones that can't be skipped. However, those have nothing to do with the dialog choices that you must pay attention to with Hans. If you don't, you could find yourself in a sticky situation, *ahem*. If you avoid and of the Heart speech skill checks with him, you should be good.

There is not and never was any gay porn in the game. Watching TV commercials at daytime gives you at least twice as much "porn" as this game.
The single 100% optional cutscenes which you have to actively work your way to hrough several clearly and most obviously marked conversation choices is NOT and never was the reason for pegi 18.
Pegi 18 is because of the violence and blood.
People who feel offended by two animated guys kissing for 2 seconds and seeing a naked male ass from 10m distance blurred out are just plain homophobic.

This must be charisma speech check which also looks like a heart, not the romance heart that KCD2 introduced.

There is one, perhaps two, situations where you see the possibility to start a romance on the dialogue options. Only if you choose those, will the game open romance stuff with him. Ignore those 1-2 options and that's that.
