Would I like this game?
Seeing as KCD2 has a modest sale and has great reviews I'm wondering if I will like this game, but I'm concerned it's a little too heavy on story for me. I like the idea of setting off into a medieval world but then I liked the idea of BG3 too only to find it's largely made up of cutscenes. Cutscenes have their place but too many can make it feel like an interactive movie.
My second concern is if it will run on my laptop, 13700h, RTX 4060, 16 GB RAM. Any input would be appreciated.

play KCD1 first! i think it's also on sale right now. if you don't like KCD1 you probably won't like 2, but both games are great imo. KCD2 has more cutscenes and dialogue than KCD1 fyi.

There is a lot of cutscenes and it's a major point of complaint for a significant amount of people.
Should run ok, not sure on which settings but it's well optimised even for potato PCs.
Yes try KCD1 that will give you an idea and it's super cheap

If you played and liked KCD 1 then yes, it has its differences but similar style and results.

If you enjoyed Skyrim, this has similar RPG elements - without dragons and Dwarvens.

If you're patient with cut-scenes (they can be annoying), can tolerate some weird bugs and story hiccups, you'll be fine. Saving is horribly inadequate. Easy fixed.

It can be modded, some good mods exist (eg: saving), some currently having issues with mods, not sure which ones.

If you're hopeless at combat like I am, (see saving mod), you'll manage, but the mechanics and camera control can be frustrating.

If having a tiny bit of maybe-gay turns you into a screaming MAGA mess, stay away.

Is worth but only if you're a patient, tolerant kind of player.

As others have said you could always just try KCD1 first as while 2 has a lot of little improvements to most features it's broadly just more of the same. Plus you can get the first game and all it's dlc for pretty damn cheap when it goes on sale, you might as well try that first for a lesser cost investment. 2 is also a direct sequel so playing 1 first will flush out the story and characters more.

Personally I really like the world, some of the side quests, and the way you can interact with NPCs, but I find the main story a little bit of a bore. I just do not care about 600 year old politics and it just seems to drag. The funny thing is I don't remember this being a problem with the 1st game.

Lots to digest here. Still undecided so I may wait for a bigger sale after getting stung by BG3, which I picked up at 15% off trying to like it for 20 hours before cutscenes got the better of me and uninstalled. It also was overwhelmingly positive. It seems many like those cutscenes that bug me so much.
maybe, maybe not. Who knows..
I like the color green, would I like this game?
There are a lot of cutscenes in KCD2. The first few hours do feel more like an interactive movie. It gets that way toward the end also. There are also a few long segments where you're just talking to people with no action. Most of the game is actual gameplay.

The cutscenes in KCD1 are few and far between and they only last for a couple of minutes so you would probably like the pacing of that game more. I definitely did. I also think KCD1 was a better game overall. Definitely worth playing.

You'll run the game without any problems. I have a similar setup to yours, but I only have an RTX 3060, could still run KCD2 on medium without any lag or stuttering.

Did you like the first one?
Do you consider yourself racist or homophobic?
If you answered yes to the first and no to the second you will probably like this game.

KCD1 has ~4 hours of cutscenes and KCD2 ~5.
When KCD1 came out the amount of cutscenes with motion cap was a major bragging point for Warhorse. Vavra was also proud about hiring some Hollywood expert to direct the cutscenes. This is how he envisioned games since Mafia 1 which also has a strong cinematic component, revolutionary at the time.
Yet tourists keep coming and pretending it was different lol, trying to polarize the two games, because they have an agenda that Vavra is a "sellout" and want it to be true

If you don't like cutscenes then I would say wait for a bigger sale than 15%.
