Daniel Vavra talks about his fear of being fired if he didn't appease journalists and how they self-censored and removed portions of Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 after using Sensitivity Consultants in new Czech interview
Then there's a Paywalled portion of the interview, and this is apparently the portion of it where he talks about self-censorship and Consultants (like Sweet Baby Inc.): https://vocaroo.com/1bWlgPG3gT6F

Someone Czech translated this small portion like this:

Moderator: And they (the producer) didn't interfere with the development in any way even in this age of culture wars? Vavra: No, we were rather careful, they were interested in what we were doing and were informed, but they liked it and didn't tell us what to add or remove. Perhaps it was also like that because we self-censored, of course you self-censor, there are things you think really hard about, how you portray them, because in this age of oversensitive people.... Moderator: Any examples? Vavra: We verified everything with a ton of different consultants to make sure that no one will complain that we portray anyone differently than it should be. For every religion, for every minority, for every group of people, we had consultants we sent our script to, and we asked them whether we have something wrong in the script. And the things they said to us were cool, in the end the game is better thanks to that as they told us what to remove...

And it's only gonna get worse for the inevitable KC:D 3
We can only hope that BlackRock and Embracer Group pull back ESG requirements before the third game, but I'm not holding my breath. BlackRock isn't going to run out of money any time soon.

Just have to hope that all of the investors they have screwed with their ESG garbage forced into every entertainment product file lawsuits for the money they lost due to it. If they get sued enough or lose enough money defending themselves, they will scale it back.

Oh no they thought deeply about things and asked experts, to improve their understanding of their own blind spots?!? The horror!

Whoa, the faith is strong in this one...

"Someone Czech"... "hidden behind a paywall"?

I'll take a pass on this crap. I'm also pretty sure Daniel Vavra has been struggling to hold down a job since before the days of Mafia. Probably for being a racist jerk-off who doesn't play well with others? That's just a wild guess from a random internet stranger... which makes it every bit as valuable as the stuff you're going on about.

LMAO that is ABSOLUTE STANDARD in the industry for AAA games... Some people live behind the moon...

Wokehorse is a better name for them now.

I'm mostly there with you, but I know that Warhorse was acquired by Embracer Group and shortly after the acquisition, Martin Klima said "If push comes to shove, our new owners can influence us"

The part that I have a problem with is Vavra lying before release, then defending the woke BS. Giving him the benefit of the doubt, he probably would have been fired if he had come out and said that they allowed their corporate overlords to change the story and characters.

I loved KCD1, so if they made another game, I would make sure that there was no woke BS in it and then pick it up on sale. No way I'm ever paying full price for one of their products ever again, and if I detect even the slightest bit of DEI I will reject the game entirely.

i translated the interview on youtube and he still says he wasn't forced to include anything. they had a whole bunch of historians consult on KCD2 vs KCD1 which is likely what he is referring to. you could even argue the groups portrayed in KCD2 are done so offensively.

if he was forced by his corpo overlords, then i don't see why he went so hard defending it, going as far to say he doesn't want these types of people as fans. after reading the interview, i don't think he thought what he included was woke at all.

The man shoots himself in the foot to spite his shoes and then has the gall to complain about the price of prosthetic legs.

DIdn't know all that. I didn't see all the interviews. I saw a few moronic statements from him. He doesn't have to worry about not wanting people as fans, he doesn't have many left it seems.

There are still no moors living in Central Europe in KCD2. Where's the hypocrisy?

daniel vavra never had many fans as a person, lol. a lot of czech people don't like the guy (mostly czech libs) but he does have a sizable following on facebook with a lot of engagement.

i don't even really like the guy as a fan of the games and as someone who doesn't care about the woke. he handled the controversy of both games like an asshat imo. i interact with the fanbase, and they root for the actors and warhorse as a whole.

Mali isn't Moor ...

It is sad you care ...
After the first game there were people saying it wasn’t inclusive enough. Hires “experts” to prevent the mild-by-comparison backlash from the first game (which I didn’t even know about until I researched the 2nd game- so it was VERY minor).
I guess he can say he “self-censored” because the “experts” were sitting in front of him…. this is really more of a “wrong place, wrong time” thing. Veilguard and KCD2 just happened to
arrive RIGHT when society stopped listening to people saying they are bigots and nazis for not wanting graphic LGBT-alphabet stuff shown to FOUR YEAR OLDS for example. If it had launched a year earlier more people would have been afraid to say they didn’t want to support the company. And I don’t hate anyone- I just hated how they did all of this and can choose not to buy this AND not be an evil monster.
It can’t be surprising when you call people awful names for so long and they get irritated and maybe not buy products that obviously hired dei consultants (which was finally proved by this story)
