Question about Brabant in the late game.. spoilers!!!

Ok, I have dumb moment, I somehow missed out or had immediate memory loss..

What was the reason Brabant betraied us, was he Sigismund's spy all the time or just cold opportunist only loyal to himself?

There were both versions depicted in the game, so it's strictly for players consideration. But he blew up Finger of God intentionally, so it's seems for me that he was spy all the time.

Most of his stories were lies no matter was he spy or not. Just watch for the timings - he "was" knighted and "became" high ranked court officer 2 years prior his duel dagger fraud, which he needed to "buy a gear".
